Temporary

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi All, some of us might experience some temporary slowness this evening, as we just released a website update including our navigation switch, and the following:

- Update to Zip Code database to include new zip codes
- Improve Ad positions to be less obtrusive in PlantFiles
-- There is a bug, and some ads may display for you TEMPORARILY in PlantFiles, if you have them turned off in your settings. This will be fixed VERY SOON, and I apologize for the inconvenience.
- Re-add the alert for our Proven Winners sweepstakes
- Update Garden Bookworm section as many Amazon links were not displaying correctly
- Update the Garden Gate offer during registration to include a new book "Ultimate Containers" to replace old offer

How can I turn off the ad for the alert for our Proven Winners sweepstakes? I see how to turn off other ads and switch modules around but can't seem to turn that off, or turn others off that advertise contest on the site. Once I see it and know I don't want to participate, I find it anoying and would like to be able to turn it off along with the other contests. Maybe I'm missing something?
Thanks for your assistance. ☺

Hi IO1, a few others have requested this too, so I've added it to my development queue. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for letting me know.

killdawabbit, thanks! As Terry noted, we're looking into this.

I haven't entered any zip code reports for quite some time due to the constant error for my zip code. I just entered a couple bird zip codes and see that this problem is still unresolved. My zip is 98292. That zip code services the Stanwood post office. Stanwood is a rural city with many outlying communities. I believe the one that is currently showing up is Lakewood, but have also seen it show up as Warm Beach - nothing against either community, but they are both quite a bit south of me and much closer to Puget Sound, so much different micro-climates. Seems pointless, and perhaps erroneous, for me to report that a plant or bird thrives in those areas. I think it would be much more effective if the area reports would simply reflect the member's stated location. So, guess I'm back to no zip code reports until the problem gets fixed. Good luck.

Sigh. Still no movement on this zip code issue. Just tried adding one in again and this time it came up as Warm Beach. I don't believe Warm Beach even has a post office. Perhaps I'm posting in the wrong spot.
