Watched Threads Becoming Unwatched

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I responded to the below thread last night and the OP responded to me, but it didn't show up when he did so. It's happened a few times lately but I thought I did something to cause the thread to become unwatched, but now I don't think so. Has anyone else had this problem lately?

Went back to the C&S forum this afternoon (5:15pm PDT) to find that there was ANOTHER response to this thread that also didn't show up on my home page (see "Help with Tephro IDs" below).

In addition, a second thread to which I responded just a little while ago didn't show up on my home page when someone else posted to it.

I thought it was just me. A thread I have been on for a long time suddenly became very quiet. Went to the forum to check it this morning and sure enough it is still going strong. I don't know exactly how many thread may have dropped.

Just noticed it is happening to me as well... So far I just noticed it on the navigation tweaking thread here in this forum. I came here to look for it because I couldn't imagine no one had any more comments;o)

I have been experiencing this, too.

It's so good not to feel alone anymore. LOL!

Needless to say, I had to find this thread on my own even though it's one of my watched threads.

If you want to know what you're missing the best thing to do is to go to your member page and click on "View the threads you are "watching."

So IB is cutting corners. Too much broadband required. Not surprised. DG will soon be history.

???? I didn't say, nor did I mean to infer, that IB or anyone else had changed our watched threads so we no longer get notice of them. All I wanted to do was to give you a way to find them while a solution is found to the problem.

I also suspect it's something that was an accident and will be fixed eventually...it wasn't until today that more people started posting that they'd noticed the problem, and until a bunch of people start noticing the same thing it wouldn't be clear whether it's a real problem on DG's end or just some weird glitch on one person's computer. Hopefully now that more people are noticing it, it'll be something that they can look into.

I haven't noticed it myself (probably because I don't watch very many threads) but there's some poor person over on vines & climbers who's started a couple new threads with the same question because they didn't see the answers from the previous thread they started, so I suspect that they may be having this problem too.

Absolutely untrue and without any basis in fact whatsoever.

Marilyn, I'm glad we solved the mystery - it was in your preference settings :-)

YAY!! Me too! Thanks so much!

For those of you who are still having trouble, do this:

Go to "My Info," then "Manage your preferences" then click on "Customize Home Page" and see if the Thread Watcher is disabled. If it is, enable it by selecting in which column and position you want it to appear (Column 1 or Column 2) Column 1 is the left column and Column 2 is the right column. At the same time, you can choose to have it appear 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. (Position 1, 2, 3, etc.).
