Blooms 2011 # 7
Love Reb. & Pink Fant. together! Nice combo!! That shed is stunning draped like that!
Weeze.. just breathtaking shots this year!!!.. love that combo too!!
Fantastic photos, Louise! Love that shed.
Growing up I grew these in white at my Grandmothers camp, loved the smell, they were right up there with lilacs as my favorite smelly flower. As a parent it was a no-no to have them with 5 little children, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a freaking turkey!
I could never have them with all the kids and animals. Now the kids are grown, animals have their own penned in space I can finally grow some . Times have changed! They have pink ones now!! So I bought some little springs....and I mean little! Waited 3 years for this to bloom. Never knew these were so touchy!!!!
Beautiful Ge!
Maybe I can help you out w/a lilac. :)
I am having 3 20 year old Vibernums taken out. I had been looking at Liacs to replace. I will see what the landscape guy can provide from here as I want a fairly large bush.
Saying that I could use something to replace the old one that DD is trying to revive. I say cut out the pruning . Its been 3 years and there isnt any progress except the bush gets smaller. I say yank it and put in something else.
Thanks, Pixie, for the ID....Chinook Arch it shall be! Great photo of the bee, & I love Mandarin Lights....Weeze, that May Queen is gorgeous......Jo, the paper had an article recently on the damage this winter did to rhodos.....if the branch is truly dead, clip it out...the rest should be OK.
A question.
Does anyone grow Vergascum in clay soil?
I have 4 different varieties of verbascum, but no clay in this soil....you can ammend the soil with sand, I think.....
I have had Violete and just tis year added 3 more to the bunch. The one I have had for 3 years has finally put put 2 stems of blooms. I couldnt figure out why with horesmanuer and stuff,I wasnt seeeing any babies.
No wonder, the soil isnt lean enough.
I will just accept that it will be a slow grower, maybe not make it.
I just planted Southern Charm in the front Thats chancie with the amend. I just should have planted it with nothing.
Southern Charm is a good grower for me, but I don't get babies from any of my verbascum....
I might have to move the 3 I bought new from Bluestone this spring.
They do better on the back hill.
Thanks Rama. That crane is metal, but it's a cheap made in China thing. My sister bought it at Home Goods.
Jo, I love your yellow tree peony. Your huge hosta is a beauty. Jo, would you like some lilac suckers? I have tons. Dmail me your addy and I'll send you some. They may shock back, but I'll send a bunch so you'll have at least a few that'll be good.
Allison, what do you spray for the deer with? I've used Liquid Fence in the past and it seemed to work. I need to spray, too. No damage yet, but I've seen their hoof prints.
Celeste, I love that 'Cat's Eye' and 'Forever Blue' and the orange dwarf beardeds. Nice shot of the water dropping off of the columbine. That purple NOID is gorgeous! Nice buy on the hibiscus.
Nice group shot, Jen.
Marilyn, I love 'Ruffled Copper'. That NOID that you thought was EW is a beauty, too.
Weeze, beautiful 'May Queen' and 'Eden'.
Here's a few from last Tues.
