Plants of RUs past
I only got it because I had already researched it last year. I saw these little plants in fields and then saw what looked like them for sale at Calloways. Unfortuantely I couldn't remember the name! and had to look it up once again.
You are too young for old brain disease!
I forget, how old am I?
Yes, here is the link from USDA and it is native.

Wow...find out what it is and that it is native....great! Need to see if I have more seeds to plant now.
Sheila if you don't have seed they sell it at Calloways as an annual if you want more.
Great to know Cheryl, but I found my seeds. Might get a basket to enjoy anyway.
Oh, my goodness, this is just my kind of thread. I have posted most of my photos on Facebook already, so I won't try to post them all here. But, sitting here thinking my way through my beds, here's some of what I have still alive from past RUs and other meet-ups with DG friends.

Okay, that's just a partial list, and it's just down one side of my yard. We'd be here all night if I tried to list everything. You all know about my iris/daylily bed, right? It's a hodgepodge of irises and daylilies from whoever has them to dig. I don't usually do "wild" beds, but the whole purpose of this bed was just to put things that made me think of the friends who gave them. They used to all be marked, and named if they had a name, but last year we had sprinkler guys and they dug all of them and then put them back as they saw fit, regardless of where the tag was or where the plant used to be. Some I can remember, but not all. So now I think of it as my DG garden and remember everyone.
That is a very impressive collection, and such a happy one too.
Oh Pattie, I hope you forgive me for giving you that purple oxalis ................It is the bane of my weeding existence next to green oxalis and nut sedge!
Well weed some more for me. I have one plant, and it has never spread. The pink sorrel well...that is a garden thug.
I've not had a problem with the oxalis either. I wish it would grow a bit more! I guess it's pretty well surrounded by other plants so it doesn't have much growing room.
It ends up growing in with other plants and the only way to get rid of it is to remove the corm (or whatever it is called) I will bring you all some if you want more.
Mine is in a lot of shade with a lot of crowding too. The new Anna purple oxalis will get more room and light.
Mine has never spread either. I really love it--it's so cheery with all those little pink flowers.
It is an impressive list, isn't it, Josephine? That's because there are so many generous people here on DG. :)

Do you want more Pattie?
Anna, my purple oxalis keeps putting up lots of green growth along with the purple. Is that normal? Would you bring me another start of the purple too?
Yes Pattie, a very impressive list, we are all very fortunate to have met each other.
Josephine.
I got plenty, sure!
Thanks, Anna.
I will make you sign a pledge never to complain about!
Well... I'm going to complain that oxalis doesn't spread in my yard. LOL. I have one mound that Sheila gave me in July 2009 and it is pretty but still not large enough to divide. I got several clumps from a local friend about a month ago and only half lived. So maybe I need some of the spreading variety too.
OK!
Yes, that's what I'm talking about, Sheila. The one you gave me has made a nice attractive mound but no spreading. I have it in a mostly shady area that gets a little sun to about 9:00 am. There's a large Texas Gold Columbine next to it. Maybe it has kept it in check.
If you want it to spread, when it dies down in late summer, dig some of the bulbs and move them. Mine may have spread with rain run off carrying seeds. I get them in the grass and also in the gravel around my pond.
Yes, I have tons of those too. I don't like them!
The bees love them and butterflies too.
I will let the b and b go to other plants!
Sure, Anna, if you have an extra, I'd love one. I'm growing mine in bright but full shade--maybe that's why it's never spread? It blooms profusely, though. Perfect.
Just had some nice reminders of RU friends. I pulled some garlic (thanks Josephine) and my winged loosestrife from Brockbuster is starting to bloom.
I harvested my garlic and thought of Josephine as well.
Stephanie did you have a good crop? I need to harvest mine it has fallen over already, maybe some time this week.
I was happy to receive 3 daylilies at the end of a NTRU 3-4 years ago; we all know how the late hours of the RU's are! This is the first spring all three have bloomed together. Pictured is Bold Rankin and Sammy Russell. I'll post the Butterscotch Ruffles later. I love 'em-but I can't remember who gave 'em to me.
Josephine, I dug about 1/4 of my EG last week. Thank you so much! We grilled them and served with bread on memorial day. Sent my guests home with bulbettes :0) Used the leftovers in mashed potatoes.
It was a good year for them, better then my regular garlic. Which could have been due to dogs running through the beds, drought, or an over zealous weed eater (dh).
