Adding vendors to PFs?

Christiana, TN(Zone 6b)

I apologize if this has been brought up and settled before. If so, I don't know how to do it.
For example, I just listed Rhododendron 'Solidarity' in the PFs. I would like to add a vendor for the plant, namely Greer Gardens. Do the admins do this?
If I'm missing something please inform me,
Thanks,
Kyle

Only vendors who have paid to put their listings in Plant Scout will show up in the PF listing--I don't think Greer Gardens is in Plant Scout so they wouldn't be able to be listed there.

Yes, that is correct. The vendors you see listed on the PlantFiles pages participate in our PlantScout program. This page tells you about it and lets you search the database: http://davesgarden.com/products/ps/

If you have a favorite vendor that isn't listed, we encourage you to let them know that you'd like to see them there!

Thanks. So, if the vendor is in PlantScout it automatically shows up on the new page when a new plant file is added?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I'm not sure if I understand the question. If there is a PlantScout vendor offering the plant, the link will show up on that PlantFiles page. You can also locate a vendor in the Garden Watchdog and click on their PlantScout link from there and the system will give you a list of all of their products. The Plantfiles database has many, many plants listed that do not have a PlantScout vendor attached.

Christiana, TN(Zone 6b)

Yes, that is what I meant. If a new plant file is added then the vendors on PlantScout that carry it automatically appear on the new plant files page.
Right?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Yes, exactly.
If they have given us the plant to put in their Master List. I'm always adding PlantFiles pages so that the vendors will have the page, but I have to verify that it is a legitimate or recognized name or cultivar before I do.

Thanks! for the info.

You're welcome!

By the way Kyle, just wanted to mention the PlantFiles you create, when you enter a name in the Common name field, you don't enter the cultivar name or species names, that just goes in the Cultivar field or species field. For common names, you just enter things like 'Daylily', 'Rhododendron', 'Oak' etc. I believe you can edit your entries to remove the cultivar names from the common name field.
Thanks for adding those entries too, PF's are growing by leaps and bounds!

Whew! Thanks. I have been wondering my head off what I'm doing wrong. LOL.

edit

Oh, yea. I meant to say I will edit them as soon as I can. :-p

Thanks, wish I had a thumbs up icon!

Trying to edit my PF entries. I know it's probably obvious but can someone tell me how...*embarrassed* :-p

When you are looking at an entry you created, scroll down until you see a link to "Edit this entry" (to edit the text fields with the common or botanical names) or "Set all details" to edit the characteristics. - if you don't see that, look for a link that says "Switch to live view" and click on it, then you'll see the "Set all details" link.

Thanks, Terry. I'll give that a try. :-)

Is this entry correct?

It looks fine to me, but I tweaked the common name a bit to make it easier to find along with other similar Begonias.

Thanks! I look for descriptions on the web. But some are contradictory. I'll do my best to keep them correct.
