Yep Crit stole the birthday list ...no one but her in the limelight today! Hope you had a wonderful day Crit. Nice Lily indeed.
Daily Butterfly Pictures #86
Awww...glad to be back. I went out today and bought some pentas, salvia, and a couple dahlias (an indulgence for me) for the garden. I also found one of those cute little garden flags on a stake that had Monarchs on it so I bought one. Gotta represent the butterflies as if the whole neighborhood doesn't know it yet.
Finally gave in and got a hummingbird feeder since they've been in the area and my porterweed got toasted in the freezes. I put it right outside Mom's office window. She's been watching them hit the milkweed but now they should hang out a little more. She has a huge monitor so they don't see her and she can spy on them.
Now tomorrow I get to plant everything I bought!
Melanie
Welcome back miss Melanie, good to see you posting again.
Happy birthday Crit and many more!
Another awesome weekend here the weather is getting a bit challenging already with 90s this past weekend.
Managed to finish another bed I was working on so that was nice. Here are a few pics from the weekend.
Forgot to post this one from vacation - it's a puddle party with Tiger Swallowtails and one Spicebush gate-crasher! I hardly ever see this behavior in Florida; I think it's because we have nothing in our soil - we're just a big limestone rock. But you can see here just how common the Tiger ST is in West Virginia. I was loving it - going back in July and expect to see more!
Thak you everyone for the b'day wishes. Was a very nice day. I feel so special. :-)
I like that Funereal Duskywing; I always wondered if the white border at the bottom was really that prominent or if my book had a perfect specimen that wouldn't look like that in the wild. I guess they really do.
I was feeling good today so I got out and planted my new plants and then went to my fave local nursery to get some more. Then, I planted most of them! The dragonflies moved right in and the Monarch keeps corcling around looking for milkweed. I did get shots of this cool little skipper on the porterweed (butterflies and hummingbirds love the stuff).
Glad you are up and feeling better. New plants are always welcome!
Great pics! And yes, that's a Giant ST.
I've got rain here today so no butterflies, but we need it so no complaints here.
Melanie
Ressell, as Melanie has already said. All great pics.! I'm so green with envy here. I've seen one or two but not as many as you've there. I'm so hoping to see one of those GST!!!
sorry I mispelled your name Melanie.

We have had about 15 GSTs cruising around the back yard all day. They are moving from plant to plant, the new pincushion flower, dallas red and trailing lantana and trumpet vine seem to be drawing the most visitors today. I have seen a couple of sulphurs on the pride of barbados too. Everything is in full bloom, so the BFs have their pic of nectar. Hummingbirds have been thick today too, but they move so fast I haven't been able to get any pics of them. They really enjoy the trumpet vine.
Those are all GREAT pictures!!! I really love the one of the hummingbird. The colors on it and the flowers is just stunning. If ok with you, I am goig to copy and paste that to my picture album.
Glad you liked it. They are so hard to catch in action! Feel free to copy it to your album.

YEA! ^_^
Russell that sure looks like the Reakirt's Blue to me as it compares to the pictures I am seeing.
