My liitle-leafed rhodo was one eaten by the deer...no blooms this year. Jo, love the cyclamen....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Nice, Jen and Jo.

I visited a friend last weekend who had deer eat the foliage off of hundreds of rhodies. They collect rhodies and have had so many blooms in past years. Won't look nice at all this year. The place looked awful. Should have seen the devastation. I would have been crying if that were at my place. The deer also ate most of their euonymous, hollies and a few other things.

they ate my neighbors holly this year

Hate it when they ruin things.

yup

Deer only ate 2....there were many more outside the fence, but maybe too close to the house....they also nibbled my JMs....don't know if the small one will come back....

I found garlic mustard mentioned in this thread so I thought I'd post this here. I am suddenly all jazzed up about this plant I've been cussing for almost a decade.

I heard on NPR recently that this is the MOST nutritious green ever tested. It is terribly INVASIVE here. I have hated it for years. I will continue to hate it where it doesn't belong. Yet since I have learned how nutritious it is, I plan to grow it in containers where it can't escape, keep it deadheaded, and chow down! I've been needing to find a food crop that would be prolific and strong here in zone 5.....

Beans and greens, baby. Beans and greens. FREE FOOD!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow really??.. I think that is all over here too

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 5b)

I am still stunned.
This is one plant I used RoundUp on and I save RoundUp for the MOST hated plants, plants that I can't get rid of by pulling.....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Make that meeeee toooo. Its everywhere and grows into lilies and Jap Iris. I rupped it everyyear since we moved here. It cant be gotten rid of..There is another stachys type weed too. Both grow together in my yard.

Thomaston, CT

Memory should hear about it....she loves free food....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That's probably the one and only weed I don't have

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I don't know if I have that. I'll have to look it up. I have lots of invasive plants that I can't seem to get rid of. One is onion grass. Horrible stuff!

Looked up garlic mustard, and I don't believe I have it. I don't think I want to temp fate. Here's some good info on it.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

They are spikie and pretty. I am waiting for balloon flower. It might not be up for a couple of weeks. I need to find it by mid May so I dont dig into it when planting clems.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I have lily bulbs sprouted up all over but there are 2 that are just huge! Put both thumbs together and thats about how thick this thing is coming out of the ground!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its gunna be a tall one

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yup, this was the first day it came up.....
I think this may be either 'Elusive" or 'Baruta" one that we both have...it was over 6 ft last year.

Was Baruta that tall. I planted mine last spring. I dont think it made 5 feet.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, remember you asked for picture and I showed you it up against the dogs fence? Well the dogs fence is 6ft. high and it was a few inches talller. :) I'll see if I can find rthe pic...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

PF must be wrong at 36 inches for an OP.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Either that or it's not baruta! LOL
