I'm so glad you weren't injured Dave. I'd have been mad too. Hopefully she'll have learned something from this accident.
Your photos are extraordinary! The chances of one ever seeing something like this have to be astronomical and then adding the photos-wow! The pictures couldn't be any clearer. Well done!
I'm sure glad both geese survived this ordeal.

WOW Dave, you had that Canon cranking ..... Excellent series. When you said, down by the river, I assume you meant the Rappahannock River. Were you in the estuary portion of it ?
Sorry to hear about the accident, also. To be honest, this day and age, I find that while driving, two eyes often are not enough. I used to enjoy driving but no more. Even when you're parked, it's dangerous. No matter where I'm parked, I will eventually be surrounded by a truck or a van. When you go to back out, you can't see anything on either side.
Again, nice series. Hope you got some Osprey shots, also.
Thanks Linth. Yes, it was the Rappahannock. As you probably know, the river is navigable to Fredericksburg and above that point it features some beautiful rapids. When the shad are running, which is now, the osprey and the great blue heron are very active. It is not uncommon to see as many as 20 GBH there at the same time.
When the osprey dive I use the rapid fire setting and try to get them all the way down -- which is hard because I am using auto focus and there are trees on the opposite side of the river and the camera has a hard time holding focus on the bird against a background like that. I really try to catch the osprey as it extends its talons just before splash down.
Lovely shot Dave!
