Male Red-winged Blackbird....there were lots of them around singing and calling!
DAILY BIRD PICS VOL. 392
Ha ha! Thanks Resin!
Great start Pelle, I love the Downy WP too. I find them so sweet. Thanks for the new thread.
Hack glad your dropped in. That Chickadee does wants to be very close to her food supply, ;). Your female Cardinal looks very slender, nice shot.
Meth, lovely pics, the Purple finch have not shown up here. Usually they are here, by this time.
You were very close to that Vulture, Lew! I'm sure he didn't want to venture to far from the prize lunch.
Red, you seem to be enjoying your trip, aside from the fire ant bites. You've gotten a nice number of birds, so far. Nice of you to keep reporting your find with us.
Resin, nice Swan.
Donna, welcome back, it's great to hear, you went through this well.
Teddy, now that was close. :)
Elphaba, would a Swanson Hawk be a first for you? Hope he's a lifer. Oriole and hummingbird, it white here still, but I'm the one turning green not my lawn !
This Bohemian waxwing has been here for the pass couple of days, I don't think he's all that well. He seem to have runny stool often.
Beautiful start Helen! Love all threebut your female Red-bellied is gorgeous! Nice light on her eye!
Hack... nice series and great selection of birds! Both Cardinals are especially nice! Like the chickadee in the house too!
Nice group you have too Met! All beautiful! Your Red-bellied female is in great light too! I love Tree Swallows and have yet to get photographs of them!
LEW... nice series also! Beautiful Blue Jays and great catch on the Myrtly Warbler!
reddirtretiree... beautiful grouping of pelicans! That is a great shot!
Resin... lovely Swan!
Nice detail on the Canada Goose Teddy!
Elphaba... excellent shot of the Red-tailed Hawk! And your hummer photo is wonderful! I really like that too!
Nanny... you got a really nice shot of the Myrtle Warbler! Also great catches of the Coots! They always swim away from me!
Aawww Burn... he's so pretty too! Hope he pulls through!
WR, that`s ok, keep on posting, you`ve got some really nice shots of the Heron in action.
Gorgeous shots, Wild Rose.
Beauties VA_Wild_Rose! Love the great blue with the fish! The grosbeak is beautiful and those osprey shots are to die for!
Burn, yes, it would have been a lifer, but I think I saw 2 more that day so might be OK. In fairness to my friend, he was looking at the pic on the tiny screen on my camera while he was driving. Still, he looked at it for about 2 seconds and boldly pronounced Swainsons even as I was going "really?" ---Oh and jealous of the redpolls! They're great!
Here's another hawk that my friend said was a Swainson's b/c of its blond head and b/c it was sitting in a field and another one just like it was sitting in the field across the street. He says they do this. He actually saw this one through binocs and not just on the screen of my camera, so this is the real test!
Burn, Love the Redpoll's and Grosbeaks!
VA, Really nice shots of the Herons catching fish along with the Osprey and Grackle!
Sweet pics of the Hawks Elphaba!

Not so easy this time! In the other one, the light yellow iris was a give-away, pointing to immature Red-tailed. This bird has a dark eye, which is OK for both Swainson's (all ages) and Red-tailed (adults). My gut feeing is that this is also a Red-tailed, but hard to pin it for certain. If it isn't Red-tailed, I'm wondering more about the possibility of Ferruginous than Swainson's.

I get excited about Brown Thrashers too!
Nice shot of that quail in the tree. Is he in a pear tree?
These are my 3 favorite Great Egret shots from the rookery at Smith Oaks Sanctuary on High Island. In this first one, this bird had been displaying his feathers when another bird landed behind him. Look how he checks out the newcomer.
wow!
It's an Asian Pear.
Thank you Pelle for the new thread, the downy wp Robin & female RBWP are fun to see. Hack, it's nice to have you back, we've pretty the same birds in our regions. Al, nice ones of the Purple finch, Titmouse, and RBWP. WildRose, those pics. are fantastic! I can't decide which one I like best. But the GBHs with their catch are awesome!!! The Ospreys too. Nice pics. Adel, I especially enjoyed the Ca. Quails. Nan, lol with you about settling for a Grackle's pics. while jearning for one of the Brown Thrashers. Those 3 shots of the Great Egrets are the best there are! Wow, beautimus!
