Spring Blooms - 2011!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice, Weeze! Bonfire is one of my faves in the spring.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Thanks Victor. Bonfire just got planted last fall.....before I read that fall may not be the best time to plant JMs. But it survived and the spring color is amazing. Does it go green in the summer?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Very nice pics, you guys!

I love the Bonfire and Peaches And Cream JM's. Would like to have both.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Greener, but not green. Stays a very nice color.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yay, good to hear. I'd be a bit disappointed if it went to plain green in the summer. Peaches & Cream is not planted yet. Now that I look at the photos they might be a nice foil for each other. There's plenty of room for Peaches near Bonfire. I'm beginning to understand the JM addiction.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have Peaches in a container.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, how much are the JM's from Davidsan's? I was looking at their listing, and they don't give prices. I would love to get Peaches and Cream.

Karen

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Do you plan on keeping it in a container or just until you pick out a forever home? I haven't even looked at ultimate height, it was an impulse purchase at Fairweather.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You can request a price list from him, Karen. They range, but you always get quality stuff.

Not sure, Weeze. Been in a container for three years now.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Everything looks just great

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Victor. Will do that.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

weeze bonfire is even better in the fall!

karen if you are looking for a larger jm check both davidsans and topiary gardens - you need to ask directly about larger jm's available

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

nice everyone

Thomaston, CT

Lovely to see the JMs leafing out....nothing here yet.....

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Not here either.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the advice, Bill. I don't need anything too big. I can wait for them to grow.

Was at a local nursery last week looking at their trees, of which they have a huge selection, and they don't even have their new stuff in for spring yet. Anyhow, was eying the weeping Norway spruce trees. My sister would love to have one. They had some really huge ones, must have been about 10' tall. One was over $1,000 and the other just under $800. Too much for me, and I would have to pay them extra to deliver and plant it for me.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the last one I tried did not go well after blooming.. hopefully this one goes better

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I never do well with orchids. I've pretty much given up on them. I have three that I bought as babies. They are alive and well, but we will see if I can get them to eventually bloom. Might not be till next year.

Karen

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks everyone, this is the second time 'Siren' is bloomng and it has 2 small bulbs shooting off the side of the mother bulb already!

Love that Orchid....this is what Pirl found about them:

Through a patented process, the orchid is transformed into a remarkable
blue shade which will last 2-3 bloom cycles before fading to its
original white."

"Welcome the debut of the world's first blue orchid, "Blue Mystique."

"First unveiled in January of this year by Silver Vase Orchid Growers,
we are very excited to add it to our beautiful collection of orchids for
sale. The flowers are not dyed but rather, the plants are put through a
lengthy process to induce the blue color."

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

if I can get it to bloom 2 or 3 cycles and not kill it.. life will be good!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Boojum said they put the dye in the medium

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

What ever they do, it sure is a pretty color.

peoniae, thank you....thats an Amaryllis, one of many bulbs I have. :)

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Beautiful shots everyone!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I can't get my orchids to bloom more than one cycle. :-(

Karen

Thomaston, CT

Me either, Karen! Pixie, love that Siren, she's aptly named....Allison, let us know if that orchid reblooms....my stepson has great luck....keeps his right against the window & mists daily....he has several moths & a more exotic one I cannot remember....
