A Crow biting in more, then what he could chew.;)
DAILY BIRD PICTURES, VOLUME 389
Four and counting....
Awwww, congrats Red of the good blessing. Wished my BBs will soon build their nest. When they first shop around for a new nest, how long does it take before they actually call it their own, please?
Burn, love the Crow with 'bigger bite than he can chew'. Great series.
Lily, we are supposed to have a "Mediterranean" climate-not this year. Our lake is past flood stage and the rain is continuing. The good news is that we normally go from mid spring to mid or late fall before it rains again.
Linth, great photos of all your birds. I really liked that creeper shot-they're fast little ones.
Nanny, cute sparrow and junco photos!
Red, mama bb is beautiful. Four eggs, keep them coming! Love dad's photo too.
Burn, great shots. Love that mouthful on the crow.
Adel, beautiful pair of geese. Wonder if they already have a nest?
So much for my thoughts on not putting up all the birdhouses. A large family of HOSP showed up yesterday. We had to put up the old houses for them and covered over the hole on this Gilbertson house for a while. The swallows disappear during the rain so we're hoping this family will be settled in the other houses by then.
Great pics everyone!!!
Duc, Congratulations on the Varied Thrush. I had just asked you if you had them not that long ago. :-)
lovely pictures + the thrush. Of course we don't have them this far east.
Duc, hope the rain will let up some soon. Congrats on your beautiful Varied Thrush, it's beautiful. The finch looks as if he has had enough. Interesting looking Garganey, Resin. Adel Snow? ooooh, stay warm.
I wish I knew how to make a caption. "Boy! That was a big fish that I missed." Said the Belted Kingfisher (was) soaking wet after the dive.
The Pileated Woodpecker was on the latticework which is right in front of the house, he is getting closer and closer, I was going to go out and see if I could get a shot of him but my hubby said no, he said that the Pileated was getting more and more curious about the suet feeder. So I didn't go out. Patience is not a trait that I am very comfortable with, so I want him to eat off the feeder NOW.
teddy, how nice to have the P. wp return. Red, congrats...woooohooo. 5!!! Sure is a great number!
I went outside to look at some of my plants and heard him calling, he is still in the area. Like I said before I had no idea a bird that big could hide so well.
Thanks resin...............my first thought was Pine Siskins, but there were several in a bunch, and normally I only see one or two Siskins at a time, so I thought they were drab Goldfinch.
Guess who was in our tree again this morning? Thats right, Pileated! I always like to put a little bit of seed in the round feeder, because lets face it, sometimes they like suet one day, and seeds the next. I tried to take some more pics of papa rb wp,he was on the round feeder, but he kept moving and all the pics were blurry. So I deleted them. We have Juncos, Sparrows(of course), wp, and a occasional squirrel. This one was thinking about trying for the suet feeder, but he changed his mind and went back down, the other day a squirrel got on the shepherds hook and reached out to look at the feeder, he turned it one way and the other trying to figure out how to get it, he gave up and went down to look for seeds.
Nanny, love that sweet blush on your wp.
Resin, congrats on the first Garganey-sure has pretty designs in the feathers.
Adel, sweet pine siskin. You got more snow than we did. Is this really spring???
Lily, love that kingfisher. You're lucky to even get a photo of that one. Love that chickadee.
Red, sweet shot of the additional egg.
Teddy, have patience!! Glad you're seeing the wps.
The rain storms we're having sure bring out the raptors. Here's a fast moving Red-tailed Hawk.
