Nice pics burn! Sweet Redpoll!
Hi Teddy, That is actually a Grackle in your photo.
Daily Bird Pics - #387
Hi Burn. I have never seen a purple finch other than in pictures. At least not that I know of! LOL
I love the redpoll photo! He looks so very coy. :)
Very cute adel!
Thanks for the identification pelletory, it is almost as bad as watching a football game without a play book, you don't know who anybody is, I may get a bird book so I can identify birds better. Its raining here, don't think I will get any pictures. I will try though. The Grackles have arrived, they can eat off the round feeder, but they also can't get very much seed, so I won't worry about it.
Thank you for the wonderful new start Wild Rose. Your birds are all beautiful, but I'm partial to that Pileated.
Nanny, cute downy. I've come close in the car with an owl and it's certainly no fun. Glad your DH is okay.
KaylyRed, welcome, cute photo of your cardinal and congrats on the first robin.
Teddy, lol, at least your found the origin of your singing bird.
Granny, sweet cardinal and handsome finch.
Red, I feel so bad for your little goldfinch.
Burn, my crows are looking for their mates too. They sure put on a great show when showing off though. Love the starling and that redpoll is gorgeous!
Adel, love that towhee shot!!
Lily, wonderful photo of your heron!
I got the biggest kick out of a small flock of domestic geese at the park this past weekend. First they waddled over to me and found I only had a camera, not food, in my hands and then they started showing off in the water.
ducbucln, what great shots! I love the one of the goose rising out of the water--beautiful!
Oh how nice to have Ospreys nesting nearby Duc, the Geese and Grebe are fun to watch as well.
Great pictures Duc, love the Tree Swallows.
Duck, glad to see those "almost tame" tree swallows again. I got such a kick out of them last year.
speaking of domestic birds, and those in captivity…
Here is a cute bird, like from Central or South America. It is a see eater, and is in a butterfly haven. They had some birds listed, but this one was not on that list.
Duc, The photos are wonderful! Love the ones of the Geese and the Tree Swallows!
So glad the Osprey are nesting nearby!
Lovely birds Mrs Ed!
Also in the Butterfly Haven, These adorable Button Quail. They would run around under all the plants and call out to each other.
King Quail (a.k.a. Asian Blue Quail) Excalfactoria chinensis. Native to SE Asia and E Australia.

One of the waxbills - from Africa, not S America. I'll look up which later.

Here's another. Terrible pix though.
Red-legged Honeycreeper, Cyanerpes cyaneus
Duc, love you Tree Swallows and domestic Ducks Geese.
Mrs-Ed, It`s interesting to see the birds from other country, I`m sure you saw some beautiful butterfly too.
I had a surprising visit from 2 female Pine Grosbeaks, this morning. The picture didn`t turn out good, so I chose one from 2009. Hope they shows up again and bring some male along as well.
Interesting on the Quail Resin, the museum listed this bird as Button Quail, Coturnix chinensis
Yeah, they've got an out-of-date scientific name (but for the right species), and the wrong English name altogether (Buttonquails [Turnix spp.] are unrelated, in a different family Turnicidae).

I recently went to Jackson, WY, to visit my son. I'm a beginner at birding, so this was the first time I paid as much attention to birds. Used my son's Nikon P90 camera with limited zoom capability and totally new to me. Anyway, enjoyed seeing the birds and hope to soon get new camera equipment so I can do a better job in recording what I want to be able to identify.
Really enjoyed seeing the bald eagles nesting.

# 2 - Greater Sage Grouse
## 4-5 Common Goldeneye, female and male respectively

Thanks Resin. I knew you would know what they were. You never cease to amaze me.
LEW
Hey Lew!! Nice pics!
Mrs. Ed, that waxbill sure is colorful and that quail is a cutie. Love that honeycreeper!
Burn, what a great surprise to see the grosbeak back-congrats. Was it on the same date? Cute starling shot.
Lew, you really found some great birds to photograph. Welcome and hope you'll enjoy yourself here.
Rockminer, congrats to you for your sighting too! Great photo. Our wds haven't arrived yet and I'm so anxious to get some good photos of them.
Here's an American Coot. I just love their large feet.
