an odd problem here

recently i started see a small white box with a smaller red box in the bottom left corner and two blue dots in the upper right corner inside this white box under metrosideros name (instead of PF admin). it's still there. now this afternoon on my homepage where it says home, my tools, etc., i'm seeing this same box on two of the "labels"-the ones for my tools and products & sources. if i click on the square, it will come back to what it's supposed to look like but only one at a time and as soon as i go back to the home page, they're both just squares again.

what's going on? i'm afraid it will end up with nothing but boxes before too long.
i'm fairly savvy with some computer aspects but illiterate on most. i have a macbook if that helps.

I generally access DG on my Mac and I've never seen that--have you tried restarting your browser and/or rebooting the computer? Weird random bugs like this don't seem to happen as often with Macs as with PC's but they still happen on occasion and often restarting things will make them go away.

ecrane - it's not a restart issue. I've been having the same problem for a couple of weeks, and I do a restart or shutdown every few days. Doesn't help.

yes, i tried that. i just checked on an old dmail to metro asking him about the little box under his name. i thought maybe everyone was seeing it but he said no. that was february 22 so it's been going on longer than i thought. the boxes appearing on my homepage now are starting to freak me out!

edited to add that i see i'm not the only one.
marilyn, where are you seeing the boxes? they look like little camera icons, right?

TIS, they don't seem to cause any further problems. At least they haven't for me - so far.

i just logged out and then logged back in to see if that would help, it didn't. even when i was logged out, the boxes were showing up.

I've seen those little camera-like icons, too. I thought it was something I just didn't know about and I guess I don't.

well, this is really weird. are yours still showing up? i just took a picture of one. i figured it i did a link it might not show up.

I don't have the problem with Metro's posts yet. My problem is with the menu items at the top of the page.

i'm glad to know that it is affecting more than one person. that would mean it's a glitch on dg, i would think, and not my computer.

Agreed. I haven't gone to metro's page to see if it shows up there but it does show up at odd times.

since i'm on the id forum quite a bit, i see metro often. none of the other admin's or ubers have a problem, just metro. it seems like once the box is there, it's there for good....i don't like it! lol

thanks, terry. i use Google Chrome. i just had an idea and switched over to Safari. it's fine on Safari so if you can direct me to a GC fix, i would appreciate it.

I wasn't able to find documentation for Chrome like there is for I.E. but one thing to try is clearing your browser's cache and see if that doesn't resolve the problem.

i guess i didn't realize how long it has been since i cleared it....worked like a charm!
