Hi
I'm up in Machiasport, Maine. I've got 50-50...green to snow/ice. The groundcover, dainty dianthus is green. They were dug up and deslugged last fall. The Schreiner's iris were divided last fall and deslugged. Their leaves aren't new growth, of course. But a huge fly had the nerve to get in my face today while I was walking my chesapeke bay retriever. (the nerve.)
So sorry Victor. Was it snow cover?
Combo of the heavy snow weighing the nandina down on top of it. Still have not done a complete walk-around. This is just outside my LR rear window. Very maddening.
That's just a helpless feeling.
Yes it is. From now on, I will tie the nandina before the winter.
Sorry to hear the bad news, Victor.
Thanks, pirl. I almost don't want to do a walkaround.
I know the feeling, Victor, but you have many more beautiful shrubs and trees than I do. So far I did uncover one rose tree and it has survived the winter and it's growing...not so with a few clematis that show no sign of anything.
Mine revealed vole trails to every lily.
Misery and heartache!
Hi Elisabeth and Welcome! How did you luck out and get to see green grass already?
I'm thinking it has to do with you being near the coast and me being inland more. I can't wait to see grass in my backyard, even if it's only 4 X 4! LOL
Still early for clems. Still hope there.
Awful, Jo! Gonna have to come up with a war plan.
sorry about the jm victor - notice my nandina also was flopped over - did see one small higasiyama jm with broken branches.
More snow melt, but plenty to go. Daffs are coming up in front of the stone wall near the street. Note, this one was here 30+ years ago, not built by us.
Hi Elisabeth.....glad parts of Maine are greening up....sorry, Pixie! Never met a Chessie, face to face, but they're pretty dogs from their photos....sorry about the damage Jo, Victor, & Bill.....I see many branches all over the yard.....if I don't feel up to it, guess I'll have to call in the landscapers to clean up......everything is such a yucky, soggy mess out there.....
Yippee! Bulbs! That snow needs to go......
Everyone chant - snow needs to go snow needs to go snow needs to go snow needs to go
Amazing to see bulb foliage (a bit yellowed) where the huge pile of dumped snow was.
Blanched them heh?
Blanched and flattened!
Some created made burrows all over my yard! Now that the snow is gone - I hope the stray cat patrol take care of it/them for me.
Those d********* voles. trails to my lilies.
have some trails here that are slowly showing themselves
A robin!!! YES!
My first chippy of the year.....wonder what he's snacking on!
I was just at a local garden center with Deb and she said rabbits ate the JM she has. She doubts it will leaf. The whole top is gone.
Hard winter usually brings these disasters. Deer ate the tops off of all my heucheras.
EEEk,,,, the coral bells should recover....not sure about the JM! Wish I was at Gromore with you guys!
Heard a blower already! An unwelcome sign.
What kind?
