I didn't see any green..wow that is nice. It was slightly pink this am.but then more white. Maybe the warmer weather here changes the look.
I've buds!!! Flower Buds.
I've never gardened in a warm climate, sorry!
See if you think it could be 'Miss Bateman'...

My vote for the first one is Miss Bateman - she is always the first to open for me http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemdetail.cfm?dbkey=293
the second one I think is Nelly Moser.
At first I was sure it couldn't be Henryi until I saw my own photos and then thought it was possible but there are no green stripes. My Miss Bateman hides out on me until later in the season but I do admire your perception, Carolyn.
For me Omoshiro is the first to bloom after the montana family.
Love that first one, such prestine white with attractive center. I was so eager for mine to open but NOT today!
I think from the description it may be Miss Bateman b/c the tepals are more rounded. Thanks!
Those blooms look so wonderful from up here.
Wonderful, Kim. We in the northeast will be saying that in about two months!
Is your Belle actually lavender? I find it's pretty but much too washed out and not lavender or even "light lavender" too much of the time. Many people think it's white!

This is the closest 'Miss Bateman' I could find to compare to yours, banana:

If it is 'Henryi', this is the closest I could find:

Do either of the names ring a bell with you from the time you bought it?
Whoa! Arlene. Are those your Belle and Multi-Blue together? What gorgeous combo. Now if we've a red in the mix (of double blooming clem.) in there wouldn't that be complete? Dreaming here. To answer your question. No, mine is almost pure white no trace of lavender on it. Though, my neighbor has one and it showed lavander coloring and looks very attractive and that was where I got my inspiration from. But mine turned out different, I love it all the same.
My memory is hazy but it was unmarked at Lowes. There were others marked Miss Bateman in the discount rack. This was one of the few times clems were sold in the bigbox stores here, not like all you guys seem to luck on. From the descriptions, it looks like Henryi is larger. Is that your experience?
My Henryi was 'all white' as I recalled and yes, the bloom was slightly larger...though it's hard to tell by pix only.
Thanks, Kim and banana. Yours is lovely. I had high hopes that someone got them to bloom as shown on Joy Creek's page. http://www.joycreek.com/Clematis-Belle-of-Woking-150-243.htm
I have nine clematises planted in that immediate area - yes, I know I'm crazed and I don't deny it. I bought Belle believing it was lavender/light mauve but there's barely a trace of it. Many of these clematises are just two years old so I don't expect a big display until next year and they certainly do not have full sun so that will reduce the number of blooms but it's hard to change the location of the fireplace wall and that's where I wanted them. Hard headed, I know.
Banana: I one purchased a bag of five, (supposedly) Duchess of Edinburgh, but it had one errant montana Grandiflora in the bag and that one got planted at the rear fence to the dog's pen. It turned out beautifully but I always wonder how many hours I'd have wasted trimming it if I had planted it in any of the other four places where the Duchess was planted.
Arlene
what is the name of the purple one that is in the bottom left corner of your photo? It looks like there is a curl to the tepals.
It's not my own photo, Carolyn, but one I got online of H.F. Young. There are two in that garden, right and left.
That's part of the problem from believing many photos found on the Internet. Now I verify with a few sources before I purchase any clematis. H.F. Young was a Walmart $5.00 special and by the second photo (mine) I can see it's accurate.
Yours is lovely, Carolyn. Love the abundance of blooms.
I almost bought a clematis today based on the Joy Creek photo of it but no other photo online showed any pink or was nearly as gorgeous. The name is Yukiokoshi.
Kim - we cross posted, sorry. It looks so shy today but it will be wide open tomorrow.
Lovely area! Can't wait to see the show.
Pirl, there was good garden karma when you planted that montana Grandiflora !!
Funny haw the colors of BoW vary. I know even the blooms later in the season look different on the same plant.
True, banana. It would have totally overwhelmed any other area.
Belle of Woking never has looked like Joy Creek's photo of it - never. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.joycreek.com/images/clematis-belle-of-woking-150-243.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.joycreek.com/Clematis-Belle-of-Woking-150-243.htm&usg=__GO69Qm1cTzRUc3dsuYlJRoubRok=&h=459&w=439&sz=65&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=AQITaTA89p_VyM:&tbnh=109&tbnw=89&ei=cp2OTZ3NCMGa0QHHl7WhCw&prev=/images%3Fq%3DJoy%2BCreek%2BBelle%2Bof%2BWoking%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26biw%3D1012%26bih%3D510%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=104&vpy=60&dur=32&hovh=230&hovw=220&tx=121&ty=122&oei=cp2OTZ3NCMGa0QHHl7WhCw&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0
Don't you think we should actually be present when Kim's clematises bloom? It isn't fair to judge them from a distance.
Eek! No snow and no threat of snow here, Kim. It is cold out, 33, but very sunny. Still very breezy.
Your weather doesn't seem to phase the clematis, thankfully.
At least you have buds to open. Our Niobe has the tiniest of green leaves but we know eventually we will have flowers.
When the sun does shine for you I'm sure you'll be waiting with camera in hand.
Thanks Arelene, I needed that reinforcement from a friend. See that low sitting arbor behind the clems posted above? I need to dig up some tenacious SAC and plant some Thunbergia vines there instead. Have a great day, I'll need to start digging. lol
Do your SAC's self-seed as they do for so many other people?
Congratulations on Asao!
Indeed SAC's self-seed galore here, Arlene. Yes, I'm pleased Asao made it. Thanks.
Guess I should be happy that Jack yanked it out, in error, last year.
Jack your hubby? He did good. lol Further North, SAC do well. But in our weather they're too ... shall I say 'prolific'! I chose armandii instead.
Yes, he is. I'll keep armandi in mind.
Jack just called in to tell me my Brushwood order arrived!
Congrats, and enjoy. I'm Back out in the garden digging.
They're wonderful!
Enjoy the digging. I'll be doing it on Monday...maybe Sunday.
