I have nine clematises planted in that immediate area - yes, I know I'm crazed and I don't deny it. I bought Belle believing it was lavender/light mauve but there's barely a trace of it. Many of these clematises are just two years old so I don't expect a big display until next year and they certainly do not have full sun so that will reduce the number of blooms but it's hard to change the location of the fireplace wall and that's where I wanted them. Hard headed, I know.

Banana: I one purchased a bag of five, (supposedly) Duchess of Edinburgh, but it had one errant montana Grandiflora in the bag and that one got planted at the rear fence to the dog's pen. It turned out beautifully but I always wonder how many hours I'd have wasted trimming it if I had planted it in any of the other four places where the Duchess was planted.
