Dave, error message for you

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

I got this for about a minute or so while trying to go directly to the forums page, from another site (I wasn't already on Dave's)

Warning: Too many connections in /www/garden/include/db_mysql2.inc on line 73
Database error: pconnect(localhost, root, $Password) failed.
MySQL Error: ()
Session halted.

For a minute there the server became very overloaded for some reason. I'm still investigating what happened.

We are, by the way, back to normal right now. The errors were only occuring for about 10 minutes.

thanks!!! I was worried.

Whew,thanks Dave'

Well, we're under control now.

We had 118 people simultaneously loading up DG... the database was trying to get caught up, but it was running extremely slowly.

I went in and shut things down long enough for the system load to drop back down. Restarted the database and then traffic started flowing through the queue normally again.

SEE!...Dave DOES need that $15 from everyone so he can purchase a killer Sun box!...LOL

Sun, eh? Hmmmm.

:) Nah, Linux runs best on i386 processors, so I'm sticking with that. I think the upgrade will be to a 1.4Ghz processor, probably a gig of ram, and an bigger drive (7,200 RPMs and more space).

Oh... the upgrade will also be to a dual server setup, with one server as the web server, and the other server as the database.

Dave
