Some Orchids..
Tropical garden # 93
Debra, I want that var. Monstera!!!!
Great pic's Debra, and ditto to the "I want that variegated Monstera!!" ^_^ And I love that yellow spotted orchid and the Beaucarnea ("Pony Tail Palm"), I need to plant one of mine in the yard.
Well, I need to go up to the University and drop off some paperwork that my husband forgot this morning. Have a great Friday everyone!
This is not a tropical but I thought I'd share a picture I took early this morning of Tradescantia ohiensis, common Spiderwort that is sprouting throughout the lawn and also popping up in one of the flower beds:
I have wanted the sausage tree ever since I saw it 15 years ago, growing in Miami - it's just awesome!
Me too!!
Thank you - just GORGEOUS!!!
Martha, mine didn't go dormant either - it's budding up.
mj: Beautiful shot of that Oxalis! My O. triangularis never went dormant this winter either. Mine is full of blooms too but I can never seem to get a decent photo of them. Your picture is really gorgeous!
Debra: That "Garden Hat" is too cute! She should have won a prize for that one!
Little Tolumnia Jairak Rainbow 'Freckle Face':
Debra, Lenten Rose is hardy for you - I grew it in Missouri, but wasn't that impressed with the blooms.
Wow Debra, some great plants! I would have needed to leave my credit card at home if I were there, LOL. Helleborus are so pretty and come in so many colors: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/232708/ but they don't grow down here. I really like that Begonia foliage and I also like those little bird statues ... I have a few little birds, and nests and a collection of Birdhouses!
I don't grow any Paph orchids but some of them sure are pretty, like that one in your photo! Please keep sharing the pic's you took ... some of these plants are new to me!
Well, Lin, it was hard. I wanted to buy alot. I really wanted to buy the hanging pitcher plant with all the huge pitchers, but decided to see if any of the seeds I planted would do anything. They were being bought up by the minute and thrown into bags like potatoes. I felt sorry for the Tropicals being bought by people that just liked how they looked, and prolly didn't know how to care for them. I was upset that there were no morning glorys or Burgmansias.. I almost told the head fred of the show ( he is my best Honda customer) that I needed to start an entry next year, but didn't want to get in over my head. I would have displayed all kinds of morning glorys and Brugs. The lady that made this hat told me she stayed up and did this in one night. For crying out loud. It was about three and a half foot tall! LOL
Now that is one gorgeous Red Paph! I have a few orchids but have never tried the Paphs ... I'd probably kill them. I still want to try a Vanda at some point because someone here in Florida told me they do really well in the sun.
Gee, some of those plants sure had hefty price tags! I can't imagine paying $33 for that Aeschynanthus/Lipstick plant! I used to find them at Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Lowes for $9.98 ... not quite that length but they were pretty decent sized plants and they were easy to get to bloom. That Anthurium is really nice! but I don't think I'd pay that price for it either.
I'd be smiling if I had a greenhouse to grow all those orchids! ^_^
