Love it! great video Burn.
Daily Bird Pics, Vol 384
Thanks you everyone. I always get a kick out of, how many Redpolls gather in the yard when a storm hits. A thistle feeder get empty pretty fast.
Wonderful photos in the last thread everyone!
Dave, thank you for the new start. You always have such beautiful sharp photos of all your birds. Those jays sure have gorgeous colors. I do love the camera and finch photo-it's adorable!
GP, cute photos of your jay too. That Red-bellied with the peanut is so cute.
Lily, I love your thrasher pair. So cute!
Linth, love that head-on shot of the cardinal, but that red-bellied is fantastic. I wish they'd rename that "Common" Grackle-I think they're so beautiful. That mean nuthatch is priceless!
Burn, I really enjoyed your video and the redpolls-they're adorable! Poor things look like they were starved.
Teddy, glad the red-bellied is enjoying your feeder.
Lily, your flicker is so cute too. I just can't get my flickers to come that close to my feeders, but they are enjoying all the berries on the trees right now so that may be the reason.
My first male Rufous arrive two days ago-a day late compared to the past two years when he arrived on the exact day. That's okay, it was so cold that I didn't blame him. Not a great photo, but it had to do.
Oh Tree Swallows already? I just love them! Beautiful pics duc! Love the Red-tailed Hawk, Junco and Goldfinch too.
Congrats on seeing the return of your Rufous!
Would it look stupid putting a upside down suet feeder on a tree, or would the squirrels get it, I would like to have more Northern Flickers and Pileated Woodpeckers but I don't think they like the suet feeder where it is, there is no perch for them to sit on. or maybe I can find a way to jerry rig something that they can perch on without letting the squirrels sit on it too. Don't know, going to have to experiment with it. Will let you know what I come up with. Everybody's pictures look good, right now all I have are sparrows again, I filled up the round feeder because I thought it was going to get bad and stay bad I did not that it was going to get nice and they can find stuff on the ground.
Hi Teddy, When I first put an upside down suet feeder into a tree (that did not have Hot pepper suet) the squirrels chewed all the edges off around the cage part.
BTW, Northern Flickers and Pileated along with all other woodpeckers are not perching birds. They are "clinging" birds so a perch will not mean anything for them. Once your able to get hot pepper suet it will be a lot better. I know squirrels are a big pain, I wish I didn't have them here.
Great pics everyone - the nuthatch (mean one) looks like a mouse.
Wonderful shots everyone! Many nice ones this thread!
Love that Red-headed Woodpecker Lily!
Linth - that little nuthatch looks like, "I'm SO ready for spring!". I'm only maybe 5 mins from your area but it's amazing (& totally frustrating for me) how many different birds you get that don't seem to be anywhere around me. I've only seen a titmouse, creeper, & thrasher once in 14yrs, & a flicker twice. I have dozens of goldfinches & cardinals year-round, but right now I'm so overrun with starlings, grackles & (my mortal enemy) PIGEONS! - nothing else seems to have a chance. This is my childhood home, & when I was a kid there were 2 elderly men on the street behind me who raised pigeons, so I guess these are the descendants - & they apparently ain't goin' nowhere. I curse the memory of those 2 old guys on a daily basis! My only help with the "winged rats" is a pair of sharp-shinned hawks & the occasional redtail. I sure do miss my dog Josie (a scottie/cairn terrier mix); she was great for mice & had no qualms about taking out a pigeon (but she didn't seem to bother the smaller guys - go figure, but thank God).

I can't get any Hot Pepper Suet, I called Wal-Marts in Bellefontaine and they don't have it and don't have any idea where and if they are going to have any. I'm pretty sure that the hardware store over don't either, they sell suet cakes, but I don't think they have Hot Pepper. We have Starlings that are trying to get in the house, so we are going to have to find out how to stop them.
Towhee Alert for dellrose......I heard my first towhee this morning!!! Woo Hoo!
Am going to go walk a trail that runs thru farm fields today...hope I see something different than what is in the yard.
Was able to catch the female Pileated with her top knot up the other day!! I think they look so funny when it is up and when they fly in it seems to always be raised up!
I would love to hear an eastern towhee. We have not had them around in years & we used to hear them all the time. I worry about the woodcocks with all the snow this winter. total of 78.8" now.
Great shots everyone!
Nanny, Love the raised top knot on the Pileated!!
Duc, Love the Swallow, Towhee's, Nuthatch and Woodpecker!
Burd, Wonderful shots of the birds from Pipe Creek!! Love the one of the Lesser Scaup with her bill open.
