Well Volume 383 has reached the magic number of posts, and it's time to start a new thread. Anyone wishing to go back to the previous volume may do so by following this link: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1160115/
The weather in this part of the country is beginning to warm up. Spring is right around the corner (or so we hope). I have been busy for the past week or so with genealogy projects and have gotten behind with my picture taking. So some of these are from a week or more ago.
Daily Bird Pics, Vol 384
Dave, All Lovely shots! The House Finch on the camera is so cute and the Titmouse is adorable!
Thanks so much for starting the new thread!
Thank you Dave for the new thread, the second post. Is that a Whitethroated Sparrow? He's somewhat larger than other sparrows that I've noticed, all wonderful photos. Awww, the finch perching on your camera is a hit. But it isn't anywhere to compare to Buster looking through the lens Photo -- a treasure.
Gardenpom, love your series of pics. especially the Redbellied with the whole peanut.
A time of rest; these hard-working couple took a breather after a hard day at work building their nest to the sideyard. Brown Thrashers pair.
Nice pics everyone!
I thought Daves sparrow was a Chipping Sparrow. Just woke up so we'll have to find out later. :-)
Nice start to the new thread, Dave. Glad to see someone else working on genealogy projects. I have been doing some of the same but I am at the point of quite a few roadblocks. Anyway, I keep searching when I have time.
Gardenpom, excellent variety of birds. I've been seeing pretty much the same ones.
Lily, nice Brown Thrasher pair. I don't recall ever seeing two or more in one setting.
Here are a few of my recent backyard birds ..... First up is a female Northern Cardinal.
Wonderful pics Linth! Glad to see the Red-breasted Nuthatch and the Brown Creeper. We are being over run with Grackles up here. Sweet Titmouse pic!
You have a nice variety of birds!
Pelle, I though it was a chipping sparrow too. Be interesting to see what Resin says.
Linth, you know, there is always another branch to a family tree. The pursuit seemingly never ends. I managed to get my wife accepted by the Mayflower Society and the DAR, but on my side it's another story. Poor Irish immigrants sometimes didn't write names and dates in Bibles. Sometimes they didn't even purchase grave stones!
We will have to talk genealogy some time.
Great pictures everyone. The only birds I have , other than lots of ,goldfinches, beginning to show new spring color, are a couple of Song sparrows, and a chipping sparrow. Lots of quail, house finches and HOSP. Very windy outside and still snow on the ground.
Thanks again everyone for the pictures.
Donna
Wow....nice start Dave!! and great follow up by GP & Linth!! FABULOUS PICS!!!!
Lily...can't wait until the B. Thrashers get here for summer!
Our goldfinches stopped coming a couple yearss ago when we switched from a tube feeder to a 'basket' one. However a friend in the next town gets tons of them so I'm not too worried, just miss them.
This little guy looks pretty big when you zoom in on him.
Yep, Chipping Sparrow
Resin
The Pileated Woodpecker has been paying us a visit but he is so elusive that everytime he shows up, we try to get a picture but he is outta here! The rb wp was awfully hungry today, I had to leave and my hubby got several pics of him on the upside down feeder, you were right I just had to have patience, the Chickadees really LOVE the suet feeder! I got this one the other day.
Thanks for the new thread Dave, you have some really nice shots of your collection of birds.
The thread is already rolling at a fast speed, I enjoyed all your pics.
A bad winter storm got the Redpolls on a feeding frenzy, today. I should have use a tripod, but I couldn't set it up in my bathroom, I took the video through an open window to get the noise they were making. The front yard was as busy as the backyard. Hope you enjoy the noise.:)

Great video, Burn. The audio tells a lot of the story!
That's a LOT of activity at the feeders. Must have been a sight!
