Garden Photoe 1 per day 2011 #2
Pretty photo!
thanks!... my favorite hummer spot!!!.. that is my view when I have my coffee in the morning
Nice view!!
I really like having all those humming bird plants nearby .... they get used to me after a while and just go about there business .. even with the dogs there.. they learn after a while that they can't reach the plants.. and it's all good... funny when they back up to keep an eye on them though
I love the look of lantana, but they have always been a white fly magnet for us so I now don't plant them.
onewish1, I keep trying to attract the hummingbirds, but they haven't found us yet or all the goodies that I have planted for them and the feeders. Someday.
It won't be long for the Narcissus. This is N. Rapture 4-11-10. I adore the Cyclamineus ones almost the most. They generally bloom early. Other big Narcissus Division 6 - Cyclamineus favorites are N.Mite , N.Nosie Posie, N.Itzim and N.Ara. I planted a 4 new ones for this spring that I am hoping are as charming as their catalog photo. Patti
if you have the plants... they will come.. just a matter of time before someone finds them

hate is such a strong word
me too!!!
Don't know why you don't get the hummers, Patti.....I always hang baskets of fuchsia by the front porch, & that brings them in....they also love the butterfly bush....
I have lots of fuchsia in containers, but maybe I will try a big basket of it this year. I do love it. Thanks, Patti
None dare to venture off shore to the Island? I really have no idea as you have a buffet waiting for them!!
We do have them on Nantucket. My MIL had some at her house years ago, which was planted with almost nothing for them. Go figure. We sold that house after she died so I have no idea if they still appear there each year. She had a pond and shrubs and trees, almost no flowering plants. Odd. Patti
I just love verbinas
last year was the first time I had any... and loved them too
Up here they are annuals. Is that true for you too?
yes
love the vivid colors Celeste
Thanks Allison, this one petered-out on me after several years. I'm not sure if I have any left or not, have not paid too much attention the last 2 summers. :( I think I may be in for a shocker this year...
I did not think they pooped out... learn something new everyday
If you don't divide them, nourish them, they can :(
how often should they be divided?
This is what one of my books says...
Split lily bulbs to prevent overcrowding. Over time, the plant naturally multiplies and if not divided will cause overcrowded conditions with less water and nutrients being supplied to the parent plant. This situation can result in a decrease in the plant's overall foliage with fewer blooms and smaller flowers.
Divide lily bulbs once the plant starts producing additional bulbs, usually after 2 or 3 years. The new bulbs are split away from the parent and replanted to create new parent plants.
Nice Patti!
Its really subtle.
But very nice!
Ronnie, I potted my dahlias up in March last year.....they were awful leggy by April.....the ones I planted directly into garden did much better.....
Mpix, my print source of choice, is having a 50% sale on 8X10'a through tomorrow. Their metallic prints are fantastic.

Mine too Marilyn, I was thinking of waiting this year until mid April just to give them a head start.
