Thanks for the new thread Burn and for the start with those shots of the Buntings and Redpolls! It looks like I will have to head north if I want to see them as I don't think any are going to show up in our area this year.
Nice variety of shots everyone...great to see what's going on in the rest of the country.
Mrs. Ed..I would love to send you more Goldfinches, we have way too many of the little piggies! Forgot to post on the last thread that the Loggerhead Shrike is about the size of a Cardinal. It is small but mighty and can sure empty out the yard in a hurry.
The male Flicker has shown up recently and has been eating suet...I was gonna post a pic but my mean computer won't let me!
Daily Bird Pics, Vol 382
Mrs Ed, I love your goldfinches. Eighteen birds still make a lot of wonderful noise.
Burn, cute photos of your birds. Love that pose on the jay.
Teddy, I hope your invention works.
Nanny, such a beautiful photo of the pileated. I'm still drooling!
Rose, so glad you rebooted that puter-your flicker shots are just gorgeous! Love those flowing feathers.
I was out in my garden photographing all the robins and waxwings when all of a sudden they all took off at once. This Red-tailed Hawk landed on top of a pine just below me and gave me a beautiful show of power-until my crows started diving at him.
Thanks Burn for the new thread. Awww it will be some time before I can share any pix being without a good camera at the moment. Love all the posting. Teddy nice home- made feeder, good lucks with the woodpecker. Nan, please send me a P. wp please, pretty please. Duc, I'm so envious you get to see hummers this time of year other pics. with those berries are fantastic. Nice to see your Northern Flickers Rose. Hello Burd, Carla and Pelle.
Lovely start to the thread, Burn.
Wonderful birds, everyone.
We had a backyard visit from a young Straw-necked Ibis a few days ago. Of course, as soon as I went and got the camera if flew off and landed on the verge over the road where it picked around in deep shade for a while. I only managed one shot.
Dellrose, Love those shots of your beautiful Northern Flicker!
Duc, Great job on the photos of your Red-tailed Hawk!
Hi adel, Love both those birds of yours!
Sweet House Finch nanny! I love it when they go on with their song!
Margaret, What a great backyard visitor!
I came back home and checked the suet feeder, I think something has been pecking at it, but I watched this afternoon and nothing touched it. But I will try to have patience, I got the wp to come once I will again.
Very good teddy!
Yes some of the birds can take over a week to check out a new feeder. I always find the Downy, Chickadee's and Finch to be braver than others.
Thanks, I was beginning to despair of anything happening to the feeder, I still have a piece of suet left and was wondering if I should change that to a fresh one, but since the downy found it I am going to leave it up in there. Thanks everyone for telling me to be patient.
Great photos,everyone.
burn, I really like your Snow Bunting and Redpoll photos. They are only occasional visitors here and I have not seen either.
Burd, nice shots of the Northern Harrier.
duc, all I can say is Wow !!! You are in a great area and take some fantastic photos.
adel, always like your Steller Jay's.
Rose, excellent Northern Flicker.
Here's a few of the backyard bird photos that I took this week ..... the first is an Eastern Bluebird sitting on my grandson's soccer goal.
I agree, activity down here too, have not seen a single squirrel here for a couple of days, kinda wanted to see if they could eat off the new feeder, but at least the wp found it, that makes me very happy, now I don't have to waste my hubby's hot sauce, the downy and the hairy wp are eating the suet pretty good. Now to get the bigger ones back.
Wonderful pics Linth! Good variety!
Nice pics nanny and teddy!
Nanny, I think I got you beat on the Grackles, today I counted over 200! The noise was incredible!
holy moly. 200 in your yard????
In the trees mainly.
I hope I can get the red-bellied male and female to come back, the male was eating out of the seed feeder today, I hope he sees the Downy eating out of the suet feeder and comes down to investigate, I put a fresh cake out and the Downy went crazy and the female Downy too, no Chickadees or Tufted Titmice yet.
