Why was CSI a repeat last night?...drives me crazy that they have repeats about every other week. Used to be Sept thru May or June was the regular season and then repeats during the summer when no one really watches that much TV...Now they have those summer series but if they do that, why don't they have the full season? and with the celebrities making even more $ than they used to...I don't get it.

But wait !!!!!!!
they havnt started the marathons.

Kids currently watching the 3 Stooges for the first time

East Bridgewater, MA

My mom forbade us to watch them due to violence levels. Saw the first one when I was 14.

(nyuk, nyuk, nyuk !!!)

I was lured by the Golden Globes and when they nominated Sons of Anarchy I figured I would just check it out.
I had taken a pass before because I am not much of a leather person.

I just watched the first disc and dont know what all the fuss is about.
Its "The Sopranos" with Leather and Harley' Davidsons. Just about what I expected.
Now to go to Netflix and cancel the rest of the discs.

Tonight's movie at WC's!

'The Mark of Zorro'!

Timetable: when California was owned by the Spanish Empire, a sort of Spanish 'Robin Hood'..

Couldn't watch the Sopranos because of all the F bombs, so I'll pass on the Sons of Anarchy
Love Zorro

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I loved Zorro too. Too early in the AM to remember his name but I also loved him in "Captain from Castile"

Watched "Edge of Darkness" last night. Not bad, could have done with out Mel Gibson but the story was pretty good.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Isnt that a remake of an old one?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Just googled it, seems it is based on a BBC series of the same name from 1985.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

His name was Tyrone Power, Jo Ann, Linda Darnell and Basil Rathbone starred in the movie too. - Haven't seen the 'Captain from Castile' in the longest, I liked that one too!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes Tyrone how could I have ever forgotten that name.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great movie, WC! One of our faves. My wife always loved TP. Captain is another real good one.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

My wife does too! lol!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Funny!

There is areal good Cary Grant movie that never got much attention. It's called People Will Talk. He plays a doctor in it and it's way ahead of its time. Quite good.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Got it! 1951 with Jeanne Crain, never seen it, downloading it now! ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, Jeanne Crain was excellent in it.

TV seasons now run from Sept or Oct to Nov or Dec. Then a new season begins Jan or Feb and ends Apr or May. Many shows have only 6 new episodes per season, though some have twice that many. I hate it when they only make 6. That's why you get the repeats. Dexter has a lot per season. So did Lost.

Was not interested in even watching The Sopranos or Sons Or Anarchy. Wasn't interested in seeing a show that glorified organized crime or outlaw bikers. Strange, cause I like Dexter, which has a serial killer as the main character. But then he has a code and only kills other killers who escape justice because of our screwed up system. Oh, well.

Saw No Strings Attached, the new one with Ashton Kutcher. It was kinda cute, mildly funny. A lot of talk about sex, and not just innuendo. I would only give it 2 stars. Saw it for free, so not a biggie. Wouldn't want to pay for that. Ashton Kutcher is just not a serious actor. He's nice to look at, but he always does the same kinds of movies.

Good to know, thanks

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm not a Ashton fan. He has no skill.

Loved Aston in That 70's show

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Zilch talent.

Women are entitled to eye candy, too. Just like the guys.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Watched District 9 yesterday. I liked it. Is the "I'll be back in three years" the amount of time they planned to release District 10?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I liked District Nine also. I believe it was an independant film. Really well done .Reminded me of The Fly years ago. The best of those 2 was the one made with Gena Davis .

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Never been into Sopranos or any other mafia crap. Am disappointed with others with Italian heritage that there is not more opposition to glorifying these low-lifes.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yes, when the fingernail sloughed off, I thought of Jeff Goldblum immediately!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm with you Victor about the mafia glorification and the resulting bad image for the Italians.
HOWEVER, Italian cooking shows are about to make me crazy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They use people in the tomato sauce.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Another favorite - The Third Man!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Ohhhh yes. I have Auction Kings in my ear so I cant summon up all the favorites from that ear.
Joseph Cotton did some excellent movies.
Portrait of Jenny with Jennifer ?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Love Joseph Cotton! Ever see Shadow of a Doubt?? GREAT movie with him in an evil role.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I did like his range. Didnt he play a minister with Loretta Young? "Bishops Wife"?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No! David Niven!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Another great.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes!!!!

I'm glad that people recognize that the Mafia is really just a bunch of violent thugs that bully other people, and engage in killing as a routine business practice.

A gang, is a gang, is a gang. Bullies with guns.

The reason TV viewers are drawn to shows featuring mafia characters is for an important psychological reason: the individual in current society often feels powerless against "City Hall" and other powers-that-be.

Being part of a powerful faction reduces the pain of feeling helpless.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

"in current society" ?
It has always been that way. This personality type is also known as the Uberfan. They need to identify with someone or something greater than themselves. The harmless ones just make a pest of themselves. The nut-jobs kill their idols as. in that teen star in Hollywood.
