Garden Photo's, combo's, brainstorming NO LIMIT ^_^

Pixie - your photos are so gorgeous. Sorry about mistaking the begonia for a rose - guess that shows the sooner these cataracts are removed the better I'll see!

love that last one

Nice pics, everyone!

Celeste, thanks for the ID on the geranium. It certainly looks like it. I will have to remember that. I think your 'Little Rainbow' DL will definitely look good with purples and pinks. Would look good with yellows, too, as well as creams and whites. Gorgeous poppies!

I like this too, it's not as agressive as my other one is.

Gee, with a little editing it could be KerPIRLcomp!

No thanks for me either for that mamajack "send my kids to college" fund. I'll pass up that golden opportunity. DG is just fine for me.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

just got my coupon for bluestone 15% off

C2ECHP423

that's the code...exp 2/2/11

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

"there is a 3.00 order fee for this sale. and a 60 cent per item packing charge. shipping is not included either from the company to me or me to you."
So even before I order I already have a charge of $3.60 + shipping to Mammajack, then shipping from her to me. I think it would be just easier to use the coupon code and direct ship to me. I can share/split the oder w/DD or DSIL and will be as cheap if not cheaper. Thats my logic anyways :)

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Mamajack is doing this as a business, not just running a co-op for our pleasure. I don't fault her a bit for it. I have participated in 3 or 4 of them so far, and have received excellent plants at great prices. She has one currently going on with Walters Gardens that has some great new plants.

If someone was running a co-op on DG, just one co-op, of course they would not make a profit, but if she is running a lot of co-ops as a business, that's no different than anyone selling on line. Like Bert, or Bills caladiums. Just structured differently.

And she has costs the co-op people here do not. She got her nursery license. She guarantees the plants.

Big difference.

So, not to be argumentative. What's the difference in Barb doing this to send her kids to college, or Bill doing the caladiums to make a better living for his family, or Bert?

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Pix, I think it depends on how big your order is. If it's large, I think the co-op would be cheaper. If it's not, direct buying would be. And sure, splitting the order like you're going to do sounds cheaper.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I see nothing wrong Polly, I just see If it's cheaper for me to go this way, then that is the way i'll order. I'm sure most people think the same way. As you said for a large order that would be great but for 4 items it would seem redundant. I understand Mammajack wanting to make a living and sending her kids to school.....I think we all strive for that. :)

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

That's the exact way I see it Pix.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I can pay a few dollars extra for plants that aren't shipped twice as well

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

That's always a consideration Allison. Especially with plugs.

I just did a quick estimate of the co-op. If you ordered 10 sets of 3 plants that were 12.95 per 3, the total cost would be around 87.00 at the co-op, as opposed to 126.00 at the 15% off. That's including shipping and all other costs.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

if someone is going to give them time before reshipping and let them recover... that would be one thing... but I wouldn't think they would do that... just want to move them as quick as they can to get them to the people... very stressed plants

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

No, Barb and I have talked about that. Walters Gardens has always recommended a week to settle in before moving again. And I think Barb is agreeable to doing anything needed.

Barb has asked me for advice, and I have tried to give her as much as I can or know. She's pretty much open to anything. I know what I have received from her so far has been excellent, and I have had no losses. But, I'm a grower, and used to dealing with plugs.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that would be smart if she did

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe the difference is because when I order 10 bags of caladiums from Bill's classified ad, as opposed to his site, I'm saving $44.50 and they're guaranteed to bloom, full size. To each his/her own.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I was using the business analogy, nothing else. Both are in it for a profit. Some seem to think Barb should do it for no profit.

Yes, to each his own, and I've had great luck with Barbs co-ops and highly recommend them.

Let's get back to some pictures :)

Sounds good.

nice one!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i am sorry i posted the link - just thought if folks had a large order they might want an alternative - will not do it again

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

No, it's OK Bill....for a large order it would be a great outlet....but for most people it wouldn't be. Don't apologize...and everyone has a different opinion on different vendors.

Lovely JI Pirl! I follow suit by with an oldie..

So vibrant, Pixie!

Lovely color mix, Jo Ann.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Celeste, which lamium do you have that's so aggressive? Is it 'Aureum'? I have that variety and love it. So bright, and gorgeous when in bloom.

Jen, I could not find out when the early buyer discount ends. It did not say in my catalog. Does yours?

Bill, I'm surprised you haven't gotten your Bluestone catalog yet. I got mine over a month ago.

Thanks, Bill, for letting us know about mamjack's co-op. Please don't be sorry for posting the link. It sounds like she runs good co-ops, and plants arrive in good condition. It's not like she's a newbie that no one knows what to expect. I would say that even with the fees it's still a good savings off the original prices. More than 15%, which the catalog offers. I'm gonna have to check it out. Polly, thanks for doing the math on that. I'm terrible at figuring out math stuff. I've been wanting stuff from Bluestone. Of course, if it turns out it I would only be ordering a few things, then I would do the direct order, but doesn't look like I have much time to get in on the 15% discount. Don't know if I can scrape up the money. Will have to see. Need too much work done on my car. One day I will know longer have these problems. I have to keep telling myself that.
