Hi there Jules and everyone,

My DH has offered to drive me to the RU this time. I am hoping that my health is good enough to attend at that time. I will keep you informed as the time gets closer.
I won't be able to be involved with the plant trading as I haven't worked in the garden in 8 months....lol I don't think you would like me to give you my weeds either. lol

Thank you for taking this RU and making it your special one...just don't overdue it, ok?

Donna

Upper Lake, CA(Zone 9a)

A newbie here - glad I'm not the only one. I would love to attend, so count me in. Reading down the thread here, sounds like everyone is so very nice. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

justpeaches: aka Arlene Wynn, 1 attending.

And thank you!

Crossville, TN

Drat! Donna will be there and I can't...my Neice will be visiting me that week from Virginia....but believe me, my heart will be with all of you.

Went to my Dr this morning....look out Cochise County....Jo is cleared for driving again!!! And if that isn't scary enough...My DGS, Andrew, will be getting his drivers licenses next Tuesday!!!

Love & Hugs Jo

Looking forward to meeting justpeaches at the RU. I just hope nothing gets in the way of our plans, I never know from day to day what is happening at our house.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Roadrunner, good to hear you are okay to drive. We will miss you at the RU, but I'll try to take more photos of the people, LOL! Have a great visit with the kids! : - )
SoCal, I do so hope you can come, and all you need to bring is your sunny smile (and DH of course). No worries, everyone has been and I'm sure will continue to help out. DH and I are used to renting out the farm for private parties so it isn't much work at all. Besides, ES just learned how to drive the forklift. Tee Hee! : - )
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, including the folks from out of state. : - )
Okay, I'm going to start a new thread for food for the RU, and one for Plant and Seed Swaps for the RU.
WIB,
SW

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Folks, please check your calendars and see if you can come. We will all have a grand time, and trust me you'll want to be a part of it. : - )
The date is set for Saturday, April 9, 2011, here at our farm. Directions will go out to those who've signed up to attend, when we get closer to the event.
Hope to see you all then! : - )

I need you to send me directions pretty soon SW. I am going to spend the night somewhere close by the night before and then probably spend the night of the RU at the same place. I think I remember you are close to Elsinore. I just want to take my time.

Here is a new one for you. I will get these e-mailed to you.

What a darling puppy, just loves puppies and kitties.

Big red mark on April 9th. My picture was taken at the last RU at SW's and I do need a new profile one.

Round Rock, TX(Zone 8b)

Cute puppies? Did someone say cute puppies? How about these cute puppies?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN1PGGHtJL0

They were helping me pot up some purple fountain grass (for any one of you that wants some) and the boogers kept stealing the empty pots and worse, pulling out the just planted plants. grrr ^_^

So I took a break for a few minutes to vid them and put this together last night. My first video!

Okay all, I've been packing like crazy for our move to TX and have a BUNCH of bowling balls that I don't want to pack. So I talked to SW and we agreed to have a craft using them. I have at least 12.

If this is something you would like to do here's my plan. You can cover them one of two ways. First you can decoupage your BB. I will bring all my flower catalogs (like 20 or so) and you can cut out flowers and glue them on. Or you can cover them with glass or tile.

The pic is my mailbox decoupaged with flowers from catalogs. I keep my garden gloves and things in it.

This isn't a BB but it shows one way of doing them. I made this with glass from a broken shower door I got for free. If anyone wants to do this to a BB I have a big pickle jar and two quart jars filled with shower door glass (and it's heavy and I don't want to pack it either). It's easy to work with cuz the safety glass doesn't have sharp edges. If anyone wants to use this material I'll bring it.

The other dots on it are painted glass globs I got off eBay so I don't have any more of these. But you can find similar globs in craft sections of Walmart and Joann's or you can use broken plates or tile or other findings. If you check in the mosaic forum here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/569445/ you'll find a ton of BB ideas. I'll bring all the glue and Mod Podge for gluing everything on.

TTFN!

Here's some close-ups of the previous pic.

you can also paint them to look like giant lady bugs or bumblebees and put out in your garden. just a suggestion

Oh, I lovethose...I think I will stop by the Glass Company in town to see if they have some broken safety glass....what kind of glue do you use? Jo

La Quinta, CA(Zone 9b)

Hello all! I'm new to DG and the California group, Sherman99, invited me to come on over and learn about the round up and Quiltygirl, thank you for letting me know how close the round up is going to be to my area. It's about 2 hours with traffic permitting.

With my health I cannot plan too far out, but I will talk to my husband about it. Would it be possible to come up for the day, maybe we could that.

Thanks for making me feel like an old friend so quickly.

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

Ldblond - glad you made it on over to the RU threads! Hope you can make it. We have done the reverse drive for the day with DD's horse shows in Indio. The drive would be less than 2 hours without a horse trailer swaying in the wind, lol.

Heather, I would love to do one of those bowling balls. Have seen how nicely some folks have made them into gazing balls on the Trash to Treasure Forum with broken tiles, plates, etc. Now I have been introduced to the Mosaic Forum too. Thanks, I needed to have yet MORE time on the computer, not!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Idblond,
Welcome to the CA Forum! La Quinta isn't that far away, and I know a short cut. Do you have GPS?
My Mom lived at the North Shore of the Salt-N-Sea for years, and I worked at the State Park for a season. EB#1 currently lives there.
I hope your health does allow you and your DH to join us for the RU. Lots of really nice people hope to attend this year. : - )
Great photos Cayte. I can see all kinds of creative things that could be done with them. Like covering them with seashells. : - )
There is a glass glue you can get that adhere's glass to really smooth surfaces, well like, glass. I buy it online at a place that sells stained glass supplies.
I really got to quit goofing off and get to work.

glad you found us and hope you can make the round up.

I also have several big pieces of mirrored glass if anyone wants to do mirrors on their BBs. I have all the tools to cut mirror and glass and tile so I will bring them. I also have a bunch of kind of like sink tile in a seafoam green and a pale gray if anyone wants to use it. I have a LOT of it.

So here's what I'll do. Give me a few minutes to take some pictures of some of my tile that I have that I would love if you all would use (remember, so I don't have to pack it). I'll post them in a little bit.

TTFN!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Cayte,
Maybe you'd best start coming by the day before with all your goodies? LOL! Sea Foam Green? How big and what kind of tiles? I do have a half bath that is dire need of new tiles. I really hate laminate surfaces. No staying power.
LOL!

You know there is a story about me that my Step-mother likes to tell. She said one weekend while she watching her two and Dad's five kids, I went missing. After some searching they found me sound asleep over the bottom chair rail in the kitchen. I was also well known for carrying a jar of peanut butter in one hand and a spoon in the other. : - )
Love the photo Sharon. : - )
Did I mention that it's not a good idea to fall asleep while eating chocolate? Not only do you miss out on the chocolate, but it will melt and stain your clothes. LOL! Yes, I really did fall asleep eating a piece of chocolate. I was really tired, though. LOL! : - )
Can't wait to see you Sharon. Still giggling about the kitty! : - )

I'm always looking for tiles for doing some mosaic work. I've been planning on making some stepping stones but I do procrastinate a lot. Hoping this summer I can get started.

Round Rock, TX(Zone 8b)

Here are some of the tiles I will bring. Jules the tile to the far left are the sea-foam green, gray and kind of a lavender I was talking about. I have a box 18" long by 12" tall and wide full of them. Plus several other pieces that couldn't fit the box.

Tiles are so nice, Heather, I'm sure Jules could use them in her bathroom. I love the round ones with roses on them. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the round-up.

Round Rock, TX(Zone 8b)

Samigal those focal point tiles are some any of you can use if you want. I bought them in a big lot and only kept the ones with purple on them. These are pretty but only have pink and a mauvey rose color and I don't 'do' pink! ^_^

Nite!

OOOO, pretty glistening, shiny tiles.....

La Quinta, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks for the warm welcome. The
Round up sounds like a lot of fun! As it gets closer
I'll let you know how the health is going.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh Heather, you are a crafter's dream come true!! I've been looking for some safty glass for a while, have a couple bowling balls I found at a thrift store. I'm having a hard time trying to find a place to store all my "treasures". Love that mail box too. Haven't seen any of them around in the thrift stores, but I'm always looking. We just put an aluminum awing over our small patio area on the side of the house and I'm going to have fun doing some craft work out there, that is when DH gets all his junk off of it. LOL I did so many crafts in my younger days and thought I was through with crafting, but lo and behold I found DG and T2T and I want to do everything.

Anyone need any sweet pea seeds? I collected so many from my plants last year.

i would love some sweet pea seeds. do you want sase?

Round Rock, TX(Zone 8b)

Samigal I found my shower door on Craig's List. When people remodel they often put the shower doors on there for free. Same for freecycle. Mine is frosted but clear would work just as well. I have a glass cutter and a couple of different kind of tile cutters and nippers that I'll bring to the RU.

You know what I thought would be neat would be to decoupage the paper flowers on the BB and then cover the whole BB with clear glass globs. Then maybe grout into the crevices.

TTFN!

Pretty clever, crafty lady.

Mail boxes might be found in neighborhoods that are being forced to use those gang boxes, you know, the ones that look like inside the post office.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Sherman99 are you going to the round up at Jules? I will bring you some seeds, if you can't attend just C-mail me your address.

i am planning on attending but i never know from week to week where i will be. depends on my health and my children

Crossville, TN

ME! I'd love some Sweet Pea Seeds...I'm in the address exchange...

I hate that I am going to miss meeting all these new people...with alll the new ideas. Jo
