Please continue to share your birds photos here with us!
We came from here.... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1149509/
I will start this thread with another view of one of our local eagles in flight.
Daily Bird Photos - Page 374
And lastly... I know this is not a wild bird, but I wanted to share a photo of one of the beauties I recieved for Christmas!
This is Joshua, and he is a male Gouldian Finch! Isn't he gorgeous? Gouldians are native to Australia. Maybe some of our friends from there could share some pics of wild Gouldians... I would personally love to see that!
I plan on posting a thread to show all of the finches I received (I have eight!)... I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Thanks for the start of the new thread. Goodness, Joshua certainly is gorgeous!

Beautiful start, Wild_Rose. There could be no better subject than a Bald Eagle (hmmm, unless it was an Osprey). The Gouldian Finches are up the north of Western Australia. I've never seen one in the wild and I don't know if their numbers have increased, but they were/are endangered. Such gorgeous birds. Wishing you success with Joshua.
Rose nice Eagle in flight shot. Where locally did you spot it?
Burd that Eagle shot looks like the 1st one I ever took when I first visited Black Water Refuge. I pulled into the nature center parking and spotted the Eagle. I was so excited that I barely parked the car to make sure I got an shot of it. I also like the Tree Sparrow. I have not seen one of the since I began shooting October '08.
Here's a couple Hermit Thrush shots I got this weekend at my local nature center
Beautiful shots everyone. Love the Eagle shot Rose. Joshua is sooooooo beautiful! Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Burd, nice Eagle shot. Love the American Tree Sparrow.
Al great work, really like the Nuthatch.
Elphaba, love the Spoonbill. Re. the bird vs. Coyote shot--if there was a great big Coyote right in front of me, I can guarantee you that the shot would be blurry!! LOL
The black pepper did not work, so today I tried something else, I found some chili powder and mixed the bread crumbs and sunflower seeds in a bowl, I mean I coated them good, and for good measure, I put some on the feeder ports where the squirrels have been eating. Its raining here so I don't know if the rain will wash the powder off. I know it won't off the bread, because I turned it brown with all the powder. Hopefully this will work. There is a squirrel eating sunflower seeds on the platform.
Margaret... I wasn't sure how close you were to the Gouldian habitat. When I researched them (I have wanted Gouldians since I was in high school), I learned that there are only about 2,400 left in the wild. Australia closed their borders to exportation in 1960. Gouldians have been bred here and in the UK primarily for decades. I found two breeders nearby that had been breeding the for years. They are truly spectacular to look at.
Met... this pair of eagles lives along the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg.
Beautiful shots everyone! This thread is flying already! Enjoy your day!
I got behind again-wonderful photos in that last thread.
VA, thanks for starting the new thread. Fantastic eagle photo! Love the color of the water with the ducks. Joshua sure is beautiful.
Burd, you got a good one of the eagle too! Great shots of the beautiful sparrows too.
Met, that thrush and all the other birds are just gorgeous!
Elphaba, fabulous photo of that caracara. I'd sure love to see a spoonbill-great job.
Mrs Ed, your jay is so pretty and bright-another great shot! You're lucky to see the wp so much too, they're so cute.
This immature Bald Eagle was enjoying the view before the robins and crows chased him off.
Great way to start off Rose...you can't go wrong with an Eagle!
Am jealous of the variety you all are getting. Not much going on here....and it is raining & very foggy so no going out to look for anything today.
How about a few twofer's....haven't done that for awhile!
House Sparrow & Downy Woodpecker....
I know what you mean, the only things that we have had here is the Nuthatch and a squirrel, my hubby put some Sudden Death hot sauce on a couple of pieces of bread and we put it out there, no squirrels, no birds, the squirrel did not like the chili powder I mixed in with the sunflower seeds and bread today, he ate the seeds that were not coated. But he did not like them too good, he kept looking at me as if to say what is this crap?
Wow you guys go so fast with these posts it's hard to keep up with!
VA, Wonderful pics! Thanks for starting the new thread! I was thinking of you last night with the bad weather, glad you did not have any problems. Love the golden lake! Good Luck with Joshua, I see a lot of them at a large bird store we go to for parrot supplies. They are gorgeous.
Burd, Love the American Tree Sparrow!
Met, Gorgeous pics. Love the Thrush!
Elphaba, What incredible birds you get to see! I have always loved the look of the Crested Caracara!
Mrs Ed, Love the Blue Jay shot! Mine are real piggies at the suet feeders.
Duc, Lovely shots and I love the Bald Eagle!
Nanny, Nice twofers! Glad to see the suet getting a lot of business!
Yes teddy that is a Northern Flicker.
Again such great pictures you all take and send. We've been having warmer than normal temps for last week, in high30s and mid-40s. This morning 26 degrees. But for people in flooding areas of WA that is a good thing. Not many birds at my feeders. I think the Shrike is to active.
Loved the picture of Joshua.
Donna
That is no.13 on my list of lifers! I was not too sure anyone could identify it. I love this hobby.
GG, you totally made me LOL. He was big for a coyote but they are still pretty small but then so am I. At one point he turned toward me, stopped and just stared. I wondered for a minute which one of us should be more nervous. Cool thing was that we both regarded each other with mutual respect and then went calmly on our way.
Nanny, cool two-fers! You're getting some nice variety.
Teddy, congrats on the flicker. They are a favorite and one I don't see often.
Duc, can't imagine you need practice with anything! Great shots. I'm so jealous of everyone's eagle shots. That juvi is really interesting to look at.
Mrs. Ed, nice pics and same kind of thing going on here. I've put out suet before and the birds have just ignored it. This year, they are all over it. Also, lots of birds coming to the feeders that never have before like the wrens, pine warblers, yellow-rumped.
I don't see them very often either, this is only the second one I have ever seen. The first one I saw was several moths ago, and she was on the suet cake, unfortunately not long enough for me to get a pic. I am still trying to figure out what she was digging for, I did not know they are part of the woodpecker family, you learn something new every day about these feathered friends. Was trying to zoom in on this other pic I got of her, I tried to get her with her head up, I did, but with the distance it was kinda fuzzy, maybe when Hackster gets everything going on his new puter, he can tweak mine for me.
