Great shots Hack.
Most of the time Pete is not a gentleman. He chases Gladys away from the feeder. Then, after he is full, he takes some suet in his beak, hops to the top of the tree to see if she is waiting for him. Most times, she ignores his offering and goes down to the suet feeder.
Which woodpecker is this, Downy, Hairy? I thought that it was a Downy, but I could be wrong. Waited and watched for the red-belly to show up and he never did. This one looks a little bigger to be a Downy. Help please.
Not quite clear enough to see if the tail sides are pure white or with black spots.
What size is the feeder? The bird is slightly longer than the feeder is high; Downy is 15-17cm, Hairy is 18-25cm. So if the feeder is 13cm high, it's a Downy, if it's over 16cm high it's a Hairy.

Had a Brown-headed Nuthatch in the neighborhood. .... I think these Chipping Sparrows are about the smallest birds I have.
Brown-headed Nuthatch (11cm) is quite a bit smaller than Chipping Sparrow (14cm) ;-)

Nanny_56, I know where your white-throated sparrows are, they are over here with the rest of the sparrows, you can have them back anytime you want!
Margaret, those honeyeaters are amazing. Great photos.
Nanny, your junco shot is really cute. I love how he's checking out that other bird!
Hack, very cool nuthatch pic. I thought brown-headed nuthatches hung out at the very tops of the trees. Didn't know that they would even come to feeders.
Duc, LOVE the acorn woodpecker. The yellow-rumped is cute too and the quail always amaze me.
Hack, great shot of the red-bellied! Love that nuthatch! Such a great variety of birds!!
Nanny, love ms. cardinal and that junco shot is adorable.
Margaret cute honeyeaters, I love the colors on that New Holland!
His face is a little blurred, but this Red-tailed Hawk has been chasing my birds for two days now. After I took this photo, I watched a couple robins chasing it off.
Teddy, I will gladly take any White-Throated Sparrows you have...but keep the HOSP! lol
We usually have lots of them around in the winter so it is a bit strange they aren't here this year.
We ran into town and at one store they have little trees with berries on them and there were lots of robins feasting in the cold!
On the other hand we have more American Tree Sparrows than usual this year!
I don't know if fastening to the tree here would be such a good idea, the squirrels keep eyeing ours but we have it on a shepherds hook, so when they decide to jump on it, it is not steady enough for them and they jump off. If I could figure out a way that the squirrels would not eat it away from the woodpeckers, I would do it in a heartbeat, I love to watch the woodpeckers eat. Here is my guy, he came back today, actually I am not sure it is the same one, his red on his head is more than the other one or maybe just my imagination, but anyway he came back. If you have any suggestions on how to get this fellow to come more often I would appreciate all.
Great photos everyone. I love seeing all the different bird in various areas of the country. There has been a shrike here chasing the small birds, and probably catching his lunch.. there is still about 8-9inches of snow in the undisturbed areas, but have lost a lot since we've had temps in mid tp low 40's.
Donna
Great shots everyone. It is so amazing to see even in the cold snowy places.
