Hack, I asked admin to change the number for you.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Congrats on your new bird....that is one I am watching for to add to my list.

Okay Rose....quit hoarding all the Purple Finch!

So amusing to watch the Carolina Wrens. I do believe they are the only bird to use every feeder in the yard!

How many of you have ever seen a Caroline Chickadee feeding on the ground. This is a first for me.

Here' another of my new Lifer, the American Pipet.

I didn't know what it was, so I put on on the ID forum. DonnaB said she thought it was an American Pipet and Resin confirmed it.

Finding Lifers are fun, but at this point in my bird watching, don't happen very often. It's like when I was a kid - opening a new baseball card pack and finding a Bath Ruth, or Mickey Mantle, card. Thrilling.

I've starting carrying my 40D and 400 in my car, even when I run a little errand. Well, it paid off, look what I found perched on a telephone line beside the road. I just pulled off and snapped away.

According to Resin and Burd, on the ID Forum, its a Cooper's hawk. Here are a few of the pix I took.

I could tell, he knew he was the boss.

How would you like to be a mouse and see this?

Earlier, I saw this Song Sparrow, excuse the lousy pic.

Love my Cardinals. If I had no birds, this is the one species I'd expect to see first.

Female

Oh, and I can't forget the male, he'd be here, too.

And my last for this series.

I always enjoy capturing a White-throated Sparrow.

Nice pics guys!

Hack, the only time I've seen them on the ground was inside a flower garden. I don't know what they were doing.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Hack you have some really nice shots there. Congratulation on the lifer. How many birds, do you have on your life list now?

Nan, I love your little Wren, he'd be a favorite of mine, b/c he's not picky eater.;)

Dave those are great shots, on the previous thread. That peanut is as big as the Titmouse, cute.

Your Pheasant is a real handsome bird tigerlily. I hope to see one near my son's place, when I head down the Province, next month..

That Kinglet can come pose for me anytime, Duc.

Funny pic of the Mallard on top of the Pelican, Red, nice shot of the Wood duck too.

schickenlady, so nice that you got a shot of the Owl, I keep hoping to see on perch in a tree, by the side of the road someday.

Lily, I'll trade you a Hairy, for you Red-headed Woodpecker.

Rose, you'll need a bigger platform feeder, with all the Goldfinches and Purples finches you have there.
I notice a few Sisken among the Redpolls yesterday. But I have seen them with the Goldfinches also earlier in the season. I`m down to about 3 Goldfinches now.

A Pine Sisken going through the cage. Sorry the pic isn't so good.

Hack... you started this new thread out in a wonderful way with you new bird! Beautiful shots of your new lifer, and all the others as well! That hawk is really nice too!

Nanny... your wrens are great! I love watching them on my balcony! Their little tails always make me smile! I can still tell Rumpus from the rest as his tail is full, but about an inch shorter than everyone elses! LOL!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I had not been out and about with my camera in quite a while... just too cold and windy for me this winter! Bbrrrr!!! Today was pretty nice though with no wind, so I was able to walk along the river for a bit. It was so nice to get out, and I was not disappointed! We still have our pair of eagles from last year!

And this one isn't a great pic, but I was very happy to see the Northern Flicker!

Nice ones VA! Glad you still have your Eagle pair!

Lakeview, OH

Sad part of life, went outside to feed the birds and one squirrel was lying in the street. He was still breathing when I found him but was unresponsive, so my hubby and figured he had gotten hit and was not long for this world. So I put him somewhere where it was quiet and no one would bother him, he did pass on, and that makes me sad, but like I said, a sad part of life.

Got a little busy and missed checking the threads. Gee they really fly by. So many fantastic shots on previous thread and the current thread. Hack, love those Cardinals. Great shots Va.

Here is a shot of the Red-bellied pair, Pete and Gladys, from yesterday.

GG, way cool shot of Gladys having a bit of snow. I guess that's how they get a drink in the winter eh?

VA_Wild_Rose -- super cool. Two of my favorites. I'm just aching to have an eagle shot like that.

Hack, congrats on the lifer and just love those Cooper's Hawk shots and that white-throated sparrow is a beauty!

Burn, very jealous of the pine siskin. I really want to see one of those!

It's been cloudy here, but fortunately, it has warmed up. Still a couple of nights with a hard freeze means that I now have a couple of months of winter browns to look at. Need more evergreens! Here is a lovely house finch. I cropped the heck out of this picture, so hope it's not too blurry.

Yesterday, I kept hearing this loud chirp while sitting at my desk. I'd look up and this orange-crowned warbler would be right outside the window. Only got this one pic b/c I was afraid to move! Could have cropped the window frame out of the picture but I like it b/c it shows how close it was.

This year for the first time, I'm keeping a year list and a backyard year list. I was thrilled yesterday when this Inca Dove showed up b/c I got to add it to both lists.

Don't have very many birds here today, I guess there must be a hawk around somewhere. I keep trying to get some more photos of the red-bellied woodpecker, but he comes very rarely. Here is another shot of him on the day I got him. I don't know why they call them red-bellied, there is no red on his belly.

Hack, thank you for starting us off with your lifer-congratulations! Great photos, especially with the hawk.

Nanny, love that wren. Think I should have gotten a nut feeder like yours rather than the one for chopped peanuts. My peanuts are going soft from the moisture of the rain and fog.

Burn, glad you're seeing the pine siskins. They're such sweet birds.

VA, glad you're enjoying the eagles. Cute flicker too.

Teddy, sorry to hear about your little squirrel.

Granny, great shots of Pete and Gladys-wish I could see these beauties!

Elphaba, great photos of your warbler, finch and pretty dove.

This Yellow-rumped Audubon's Warbler seemed to love the light rain a few days ago.

I just love this thread, especially on a cold winter's afternoon.

Burn, please send some purple finch and pine siskins my way.

Elphaba, wish I could hear a chirp and look out my window and see that beauty.

Duc, great shots as usual, love that Junco; I can never get close enough for a decent shot of those little guys, kinda like the dees, they end up on my pictures looking like little puffs of feathers with no eyes!! Wow to the Acorn Woodpecker.
