Tropical Garden #89 - January 2011

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

here's another canna from the "fenceline bed", another noid, grown from seed.
I wish we could up load more than one pic at a time, cause there a few more down there too.
this one and the other speckled one are dwarfs and don't spread much, or at least they haven't.

I would love to see that fenceline bed, those cannas are all extraordinary! I don't usuallly care for cannas but when I see ones like you grow my opinion changes. LOL I suspect you take very good care of them and I guess your horsey compost helps too.

MJ,
I would love some of the cannas if you have extras. We have just bought 100 acres and in the next couple of weeks will be starting on our house.....so I need lots of plants to fill up the space.

Good Sunday Morning to everyone!

ardesia, the plant with the red flowrers is a Jatropha Integerrima Compacta.
It is always blooming in the GH and has kept its foliage.

mjsponies, I am a big canna fan and would like to have a start of the first noid that you started from seed. I have a Ermine that is a very good bloomer and is medium height. Maybe a trade, if you want to, in the spring.

GAGirl1066, is that a real bird nest in last years Jewel Orchid picture? That must be one of your prized plants, it's a beauty.
It must be awesome to be in your GH with all those orchids blooming at this time of the year. I have a few that are just hanging on, with no sign of a spike anywhere.

tropicbreeze, That is a fantastic Anthurium!! Is it A Magnificum?

joeswife, in the picture you can see one of your Crossandra blooming.
