Booker, been too long since you chimed in. Sure go ahead and tell your boys, they may not get it today, but some day they will, and you'll be blown away when you hear them say what you shared with us today.

Thought for the Day - #11
kwan,
Mom used to say that to me too. I still use it as necessary on my boys. LOL!
Mom's are smart. : - )
Sorry we cross posted.
WIB~
SW
No big deal, SW. I like your second one. LOL
kwanjin ~ Your mother was not the only one who uttered that phrase. I suppose all the moms got it from there's and so on....
SW ~ I will never forget my son's adolescence. Now his children are in their 20's and one almost 30!
"If you can't say something nice, say something nasty" (DH, LOL)
My DH would buy that one. He hates it when I use the real one.
My father came home from the war a totally different man than what my mother had married. He was physically abusive to her and us 4 kids. So she divorced him in 1945, and we overnight became white trash.. She put us 4 kids on a train and came to CA from Buffalo, NY. Growing up was tough, we were poor, as our father never paid child support or alimony. But we had each other. We did not miss, that which we did not have. I'm giving background, so you can realize one of my mother's favorite sayings was just pure bunk. She would never have struck any of us kids. Sister 12, Brother 6, me 3, brother 6 mos.
When one or more of us would act up, (and we didn't act up often); my mother would say: Come here, I need to kick you in the butt and try to get your brain back where it belongs, apparently it fell down." We thought it was the funniest thing to say.
Sue
She was probably saying what your dad used to say, only he meant it....
A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear. -Thomas Jefferson, third US president, architect and author (1743-1826)
Good ones Margaret, and keeping active. LOL! : - )
Yep, I can relate. It ain't easy growing up poor, but at least my Dad paid Child Support. Too bad Mom drank it all up.
Thought provoking quote, evelyn. : - )
"It's a strange world of language in which
skating on thin ice can get you into hot water."
~Franklin P. Jones~
I like this one better.
"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
Art is knowing which ones to keep."
~Scott Adams~

Life takes creative thinking.
Practice in your garden.
~ Maria Rodale
Sue and Jules, there is a saying in the ole country "Family secrets; we keep to ourselves, when the secrets come to light thereby healing will take place." Keep the faith!
Flowers always make
people better, happier
and more helpful; they
are sunshine, food
and medicine to
the soul.
~ Luther Burbank
"In all of the recipes for happiness I have ever seen, 'something to look forward to' has been given as an important ingredient. Something to look forward to! How rich the gardener, any gardener, is in this important ingredient!
For always he looks forward to something, if it is only the appearance of the red noses of the peonies in the spring or the sharp aromas that fill the autumn air after the first frost has touched the herbage.
~ Louise Beebe Wilder
(I am looking forward to spring! It is the best season by far!)
As an avid coffee AND tea drinker, I thought this was hilarious:
Abraham Lincoln "If this is coffee, please bring me some tea; but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee."
Evelyn, I love that last quote by Louise Beebe Wilder. The anticipation is half the fun of gardening!
Saw this and knew you'd love it.
We can all relate to it. LOL! : - )

The good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the

That's great! I totally agree with you on that!!!

Hey, I didn't come up with it, but it cracked me up, so I copied and pasted it from the email it rode in on.
"You know they say that he who has the most toys when he dies, wins. What does it matter? He is still dead."

I've been thinking that one over for a week, and you know, I bet he never got to play with his toys because he was too busy acquiring them. : - )

Amen Jules!
Or too busy collect seeds to plant them??

"Whatever a man's age, he can reduce it several years by putting a bright flower in his buttonhole." ~ Mark Twain
sherman, I just love that one.
sherman, that is so special. I used to tell my children and now my grand children, "Walk this way", and then walk out of control.
Usually when I let my dogs lead the way, we end up at home. Very proud of Spirit. I didn't know my backdoor neighbor had a small herd of goats. Spirits instincts took over, but when I called him back before he started herding the goats, he came. What a good boy!
Even when the mouthy little dog kept crossing the fence and saying bad things to Spirit, he was showing his good manners. Had to work on the neighbors dog, letting him know that he is not to pass that fence line. Spirit was great! Such good manners from him! : - )
I did plant the white sage seed. Still saved some for you shermie!
Loved all the quotes.
You know, we used to walk everywhere. Hardly anyone walks these days.
Sorry, I've kind of not been checking in. MIL had a triple bypass last Friday, and they implanted a pacemaker yesterday. She's coming home tomorrow. SIL #2, the Operating Room Nurse is coming in tomorrow to help out for a week or two.

"It's not where you're from; it's where you're going.

Speedy recovery wishes to you MIL, Jules. It's wonderful that SIL #2 is coming. That's family is all about -- pulls together in time of need. All great thought for the day! Thanks.
Our youth pastor just posted this, and it really hit home.
"Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but succeeding at things in life that don't really matter." -Francis Chan
No idea who Francis Chan is, but I think I'm going to go look him/her up and find out!
Bookerc, I really liked the quote, please let us know what you find out?
Shermie, I liked it, 'cause there is so many ways to brew tea.
Lily, I am impressed. You have untapped potential if you made that up! Brava! : - )
I have some thoughts on Friendship I want to share with you.
"BY MY SIDE
"Don't walk in front of me,

Don't walk behind me,

You give me all the help you can - but,
more important, you are simply there."

I swiped this from a chain letter I am not going to inflict on 20 of my friends and family. I'm sure they will appreciate it.

Loved them all, but really loved the friends SW.
All is well except still trying to find out what is wrong health wise of DH. Getting old is the pits. Sharon.
Sharon, ditto on my front. Although DH is under many doctor's care, he never quite gets 'well'. Currently recovering from retinal surgery (2nd in 5 weeks on same eye) and it is taking MUCH longer with a lot more pain than last time.
