Maybe as we all learn the video capabilities of our camera's we'll be able to start a Video Thread.

I still have to learn mine, Ducbucin, nanny, red and many more will be able to contribute.

Springfield, VA

Great bald eagle photos. Im starting this year tracking nesting progress at a couple of local nest sites. Hopefully I'll have some great pics to show everyone. but here is my first eagle photo at the nest shot as it was flying away unfortunatly.

When Pipe Creek starts to wake up in early March I do plan on shooting some video...youtube is great for hosting these.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Now that I have a T1i, I may be able to contribute to a video thread - but, I have only used it ONE TIME, and that was when I first got the camera.

ejw49eagle - its nice to see a new contributor to our Daily Threads. Your eagle flight phot was nice. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your pix.

Here are the rest of mine from yesterday. Today there's lots of ice outside. I got some new pix, but they're still on the card.

Anyway, from yesterday, here's a nice looking female Cardinal

Here's another pic of the Ruby-crowned Kinglet. I see just a dab of the ruby colored crown.

Nice shots Hack, teddy and ej!

Is anyone else seeing their Dark-eyed Junco's pigging out on suet???
Mine seem to be eating it more than anyone!

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

I'll have the pleasure of starting the new thread.

Yeah!! - my first Dark-eyed Junco of the new year showed up today. It was a fair ways off, not eating any suet, just seeds off the ground.

A Warbler in the snow...nice shot Hack!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

If a Junco shows up I'll have a new lifer. I haven't seen one here yet Pelle. Hack, seeing yours that encourages me to be patient, maybe I'll get one too. My Pine Warblers came more frequently and brought along a few friends.

Red, that video is so cool! I didn't even realize that I didn't understand what you were describing until I saw it. I thought they were just in a circle feeding. I didn't realize they were actually spinning. Hope to see that.

Hack, great shots. I often see the ruby crown when the kinglet gets out of the pond, but I don't think I've ever gotten a photo of it! Congrats! Love the junco too.

GG, pretty sunny snow shots. I forgot that stuff can be pretty.

Ejw, totally jealous. I'm dying to see an eagle's nest.

Lily, hope I don't interrupt your posting, but I have to get going. Love those pine warblers but darn it looks cold! Cold here too. In fact, I need to bring some plants in. Hate it when it freezes.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Elphaba, you're just now taking the plants in? How lucky you're. Our first killing frost was back in Nov. I think. There is no interuption. It rarely snow here, but when it does, my birds seem to be more active outside.

Be on the look-out. I don't see how some Junco won't come your way.

I sure do hope so Hack, hope I'll see one soon. I've noticed you've many sparrows, which I don't get to see coming to the grains feeder, for the forage on the ground more often.

Carolina Wren at the suet. She prefer the high-energy feed along with the Warblers and Woodpeckers.

Nice photos, everyone. Hack, you are certainly busy.

ejw, I hope you can get a little closer to the Bald Eagles without disturbing them. I noticed that you live in Springfield, VA. Are you aware of the Bald Eagles named "George" and "Martha" ? Their eaglets are pictured on a gold coin released by the U.S. Mint to honor the national bird. Since the 1990s the pair had lived on the Potomac River just south of Washington. The birds made national headlines several years ago when a younger female, making a move for George, attacked Martha, seriously injuring her. Martha recovered at a rescue center and made her way back to George but was euthanized months later after flying into a tree or power line. Anyway, just a little trivia. You might see George and his new mate.

The last time I was at the Conowingo Dam photographing the Bald Eagles, I took this image of a group of Great Blue Heron's. This photo reminded me of the "Where's Waldo" book. Can you find all of the Great Blues ?

Yes Linthicum I followed that story of the famous pair of eagles. I guess the pair I photographed this year is George and his new mate out on the Potomac near the Belle haven eagle nest. I counted 11 Great Blue Herons in your pic from Conowingo. Keep up the great photography. Heres those eagles on the Potomac River near the Belle haven nest site.

Word of warning, there is a highly communicable intestinal flu going around. Most of the Logan County has it or is catching it. Also there is a winter storm warning 3-6 inches of snow is on the way.

I have been lurking-- and have loved all of your gorgeous pictures!
Stuck at home in the snow... I've been enjoying the cardinals today.

Quite an intriguing quiz Linth, my count is 12.

Elphaba, interesting mix, in your flock of ducks.

Burd beautiful shot of the Red-tailed Hawk.

Here's a Hairy on the smallest feeder in the yard. I didn't expect, he would land on the Pine cone.

Great pictures folks. JulieQ, love the Cardinals. Burn, you need a larger pine cone!! LOL That is too funny.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

I have a few more from today. With the storm, nothing much to do but enjoy my birds and take pix.

I think this is a Song Sparrow. I placed it on the ID forum, but no one has offered yet. If it isn't let me know.

Thanks. Hack

Nice pics of your pretty Cardinals Julie!

Lily, lots of eating during the storm!

Burn, Nice pic! Haven't seen my Hairy lately.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Saw a Brown Thrasher in the shadows, so I fired the flash. Better beamer is on the flash. Still got the figure out the best settings for it. Couldn't have picked a worse day to break it in.
