January 2011 Blooms

I thought I'd start the new year off with a few pix . . .

This one is a Sinningia . . . HCY's Blue Dolphin. I planted the tuber, oh, say, 11/15-ish . . . the growth that was on the tuber at the time dried off, but this pair of leaves showed up this past week.

I thought I would post a photo of one of my favorites. It is covered in large flowers right now.

Very nice! I do like the reds.

Beautiful blooms you two! I don't have any Gessie's in bloom, but I sure do enjoy seeing pictures of everyone else's lovely flowers!

Nichole: Love that Sinningia Little Tiger ... really nice!

Earle: Do you know the name on your beautiful African Violet? That color is really pretty!

I am slipping. The plant is Plenty of Pepper. Thanks for keeping me honest!

Here's a different angle (and a more current pic) of Little Tiger . . .

ok, so the lint on the backdrop shows up better than the plant itself does, but you get the idea.

This is a bloom on Franken Alison that started opening this morning. I don't like that it has so much pink in it . . .

Warmer weather better hurry up . . . . so many beauties, GH!

Looking forward to our trade Nichole!

Shanika

P.S. Are you going to violet convention in May?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

No, it's too far . . . maybe once I start working, I can save up for a trip. I'll probably have to hold out until it moves closer to my part of the country. I'll just live it thru your FB postings!

Pretty! Love the pink in your Playful Spectrum. Amazing how the coloring can be so different in the fantasy plants. Mine is white with pink fantasy. Is that because my conditions may be cooler?

Is Rupicola a trailing species?

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Nichole and Shanika I am drooling again!!

Lynn

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I love to make people drool . . . :)

I think the differences in color have alot to do with temperature, Shanika. I try to keep the temperature in my room as even as possible, but it does tend to be on the warm side alot. I'd think in MD it would be on the cooler side . . .

. . . and yes, the rupicola is a trailing species. It is real easy to care for, too . . .

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm going to move my PS to the warmer top shelf to see if that helps the next flush of blooms have more pink.
Just finished wicking some violets and potting up streps. All day job, almost! I have a really large Lyons Crown Jewel that I potted up, but the leaves are so floppy. I need a plant ring. I see a Cape Cod order in my very near future.
