You knew from day 1 she was a star......a real fighter....she deserves the glory!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

You might want to frame that photo...she has a "snow" mustache, like a milk mustache.

I wish I had kept more photos of my pets...I don't mean 100's of them, just 3-4 photos in frames...live and learn....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I agree with Robin, Hope had a rough start and fought hard...she deserves it!!

Patches & Jake.....they match!

Patches is precious! He looks so big and healthy.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, she's grown up to be a big bunny!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Celeste is Patches litterbox trained?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, she has a potty box on the floor that she goes in when she's let out loose. She is not always loose...every night from 8-11pm she runs the livingroom :)

Did anyone see this? Amazing!

poor bunnies.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

They didn't look very abused! I thought Patches might want a tiara after watching that. (Sorry Celeste!)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

your babies are adorable Celeste!!!

The mighty hunter, Jake, with his pet rabbit....too cute! Someone at coffee hour after church today was showing me photos of his chickens on his I-phone.....and also pictures of their eggs!

Wow, I'm way behind here. Haven't checked this thread since just before leaving on my trip. Love everyone's pics

Read about the dogs fighting. Glad our 2 are good. Patches is boss, and Buffy doesn't push it. Patches never really has to assert her authority over him. He's just naturally submissive towards her. If she wants one of his toys he lets her take it. If she wants to drink first out of the water bowl he lets her drink first. We're lucky with these two. Never had problems.

Allison, I like a lot of Victoria Stillwell's techniques on that show 'It's Me Or The Dog". She's uses positive reinforcement and treats. I would say in your case you could have a friend help you out. Have them come to the door. Let them know you won't be answering right away. Make the dogs sit when she rings the bell, then give treats once they behave. Have you're friend come in, and have her ignore the dogs. Once they've calmed down and are not jumping or barking, then your friend can give treats, but not make a big fuss over them. It's a lot of repetition, but I figure eventually they would get it. Do you ever watch her show? She's very good. I like Caesar Milan, too, the Dog Whisperer.

When you guys were talking about overprotective mother dogs it reminded me of the time when we had a cat, a calico named Precious. She had kittens one time, and she became a demon towards out dog. She was always trying to attack him, and he was much bigger than her. One day the neighbor's husky mix came to our house. Precious was outside and attacked him. Jumped right on his back! Poor thing didn't know what to do. He stayed away after that. We ended up having to give Precious away, as she never did get over her overprotective stage. Our dog had been with us much longer than she had, so she had to go. We gave her to a neighbor about 3 miles or so away. She took off and came back to our house. We tried another attempt. She had been pregnant and must have had the kittens and abandoned them somewhere, as she came back to us not pregnant anymore, and no kittens. I don't remember what happened after that. Either she finally stayed in her new home or took off for our place and was never heard from again.

Speaking of the Wheaton terriers being handfuls, I've heard all the terrier breeds can be like that.

I do love the standard poodles. Very smart dogs. Another very smart dog is the Sheltie.

I loved the slideshow on 27 ways pets can improve your life. I've known a long time about how they can reduce blood pressure and stress. Maybe that's why my blood pressure is always good. I've never had a problem with it.

OMG! Lala the penguin is just too cute! Imagine having a penguin for pet.

Congrats to Hope for her start at stardom!

Yank I was watching it and Brian was muttering behind me...he was horrified that they dressed those poor bunnies up!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Our neighbors had a huge white rabbit when my boys were small that had free run of the house just like a cat and it was litter trained, always thought that was so neat. We tried keeping ours inside but the dogs just wouldn't let it be, my son took it to his house but it lives outside.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

never watched her shows Karen .. will see if I can find them on the internet... sounds like a job for warmer weather.. LOL

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

''I'ts Me or The Dog'' is good, here it's on Animal Planet and you can find it on Demand if you have Comcast.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

You notice there are no cat training programs.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

There are - but they are the trainers. ^_^

East Bridgewater, MA

lol, yes!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I have heard of cats being trained, but it's much harder, as they aren't pack animals like dogs, who follow a leader.

when I was little I trained my cat to walk on its hind legs, my brother told me you can't train cats, then I was scared that there was something wrong with the cat

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - cool!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

it was cool til I was afraid of the cat!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL, Debi!! I think that would have been cool! "MensaKitty"

Our last cat would back away from the door if you said 'no'. I never tried it with any of the earlier cats.

(Forgive me if I have mentioned this before; I think I have):

In the 1970's in downtown Boston, I was walking past a luxury high-rise of apartments/condominiums, and a wealthy dowager was walking her CAT on a leash at 9pm.

I commented on the unusual sight, and she said she had trained more than one cat to be on a leash, by starting them off when they were tiny kittens.

The cat looked quite calm and content, and was not pulling on the leash at all !!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We had 2 siamese cats that we adopted and they had been declawed. The only way to take them out was on a leash because they could not defend themselves . It was very strange walking a cat on a leash!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Anyone want to start a new thread with a pic of their pet?!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Depends...you want rabbit, cat or dog? LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Surprise us!
