Idea for Dave.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Have you ever thought about having a "Buddy List" thing on here somewhere? so that we can tell which one of our friends are actually logged on? I mean there is no way I could add all my DG friends to my regular aol buddy list, but it would be neat to know who all is on and who isn't.
This may seem like a shot in the dark but it was a nice thought anyway.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Molly its a neat idea. It would be fun to know who is here when we respond to a post so we could have an on going response with them.I am sure Dave has his hands full at the moment maybe its something he can look into when he has a free moment(when would that be?)lol I think what your talking about is something to show who is logged in right? So you know if you want to say something to somebody you know if they are logged in and will see it.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Yes Mystic!! exactly!!!! I think it would be fun to "see" who is here when we log on. and it would really be cool if we had a buddy list type thing "on" DG so that we could do Instant Messages with the people here!! now that would be wayyy coooool! Maybe in the future!! I know he is super duper busy so I will wait about asking him for now.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes!!!!! I have thought the same thing, especially since I post threads within threads and forget to watch it so I know if there's a response. Please, Dave, can it have a place on your do list? That would be even better than a 24/7 chat room. If we aren't careful, we will work our poor webcouple to death, but you are so very good and sweet and capable, we can't stop ourselves. Thanks many times for so much!

The "Who's Online" is a very cool idea. It's done and you can find the link in the menu, under "Cool Stuff".

Check it out!

Regarding instant messaging via DG - I have no idea how to do that, off the top of my head. :( I'll give it some thought, but I really can't make any promises on this one...

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Dave you are the man.. Geez that was just posted minutes ago and it's already done..... I love it. thanks

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Thank you Dave!!! you are the top's!!!!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

This is sooooo cooooool!!!! I had to go check it out, and it is just like I pictured it! Thanks Again Dave!!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't think I can stand it!!!! If I wasn't too old, I would fall in love with this young man. How much more can you amaze us, Dave? This was so fast, and it is indeed Cool Stuff. You have the best site on the web, so I hope you are prepared for fame.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

LOL Aimee!! He is one of a kind isn't he? That Trish is a lucky lady! But then again Trish is very deserving of him, because she too is one of a kind! (((Dave&Trish)))

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

You know, I always think of them as one and the same. If Dave's great, it follows that Trish is, too, because I don't think he could possibly be "all that" if he didn't have her. Heck, I love them both!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

O how true Aimee, LOL

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Aimee your so right I think it's both of them that make this site so great!Thank you Dave and Trish!

Cordova, MD

Yep, thank you Dave and Trish.... you spoil us too much!!! Wow! What a webmaster we have!!

Very cool indeedy!!!! I knew he was the bestest of the best! I love the fact that questions are answered right away. And most of the time when we ask for something we would like to see we usually get it. Such a great site. THank you Dave. Thank you Trish.

Dave - an idea ....

instead of using instant messaging on here, could we have an extra list in our preferences to list an IM we already have? For instance, I use icq along with a few others.

-Jennifer

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Jennifer, you lost me here, maybe Dave will understand it better than me...after all he is the one you addressed that to, but I was just being nosey

Ya'll are just way to nice. :) Thanks. :)

Jennifer: That's an idea. I'll give it some thought.

Dave

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

Jennifer, for now you could list it in your profile! ICQ or AIM or AOL screen name... !! Great idea, Jennifer.

Love in Christ,
Janie

Dave,is there any way you can take my name off the list when I am on? I'm not much for this 'buddy list' I liked the idea ;of coming on here freely without anyone knowing how much time I spend on it. So is there any way that my name can be taken off so it doesn't show up....please? I like my privacy,so don't want someone coming to me saying'is that all you do,is be on Dave's Garden all day,ot must be nice to have that much time on your hands, or Gee,you're not on much' Please,Dave, take my name off the 'on line'list. I do thank you if you could do that for me. Until then,I'm out of here.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

awwwe come on CoCo, We are all friends here! We don't care how long anyone stay's logged on here. I mean it's not like it actually shows "how long" we have been logged on. I really don't think anyone would single you out and ask you why you stay here soo much, PLEASE don't take your name off it would spoil all the fun~~shoot girl be proud to be here!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

CoCo, I will always show as being on here. With cable modem, I'm always connected and I never log out. But maybe it could be something we could choose.

No problem, CoCo. Your name is hidden from the list.

Dave

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

hehehe, CoCo - look at it this way: if we see you on here, it's because we're here too :)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

okay, i am going to speak up...lol..i ... uhmm...don't like it...i am a sneaky cajun and i think it tells on me a little bit too much... :)

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

I'm with coco and lisa, I don't really like it either

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

Dave
I love it

I don't see any reason to hide.

Paul

Ok I put up a new pollbooth about this. Go vote and express your opinion there. :)

Thanks Dave, and for the rest of you who feel the same way as I do. What good is it? You still can't communicate with each other no matter who is on line. I like my privacy to be able to come and go as I please without everyone knowing.
Granted, some of you like it, and then there are some that don't, and I don't. Just the way I feel.

Agawam, MA

I don't mind it, Dave.

Paulgrow - maybe you'll want to hide when Penn State beats Michigan next year! LOL, hope you don't mind some friendly ribbing!

Everyone - this is why I suggested posting your icq # or aol im name. That way, if you want to be seen, you can. if not, you don't need to be.

What scares me about having an instant messenger here, is if I want to just scroll through a few threads, check up on certain things, and somebody "wants to chat", I could be seen as distant and rude because I won't have the time to carry on a balanced conversation. If I'm on DG, and want to chat, I can make a conscious decision to turn on ICQ, and make myself 'online'. This way, I'm also able to ignore folks I don't want to talk to, or don't feel like dealing with at the time.

Hi,
I also go in a chat room (not much since I found Dave's) It has a who's on.. I see no problem with it..

Crossville, TN

I'm in a family site that has a Who's on...but you have to launch it...then if you want to chat with someone, you launch the chat program. If you don't launch it, you won't show up there. Works for me. Jo

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I didn't vote at first, but after using it today, I like it. I saw an old friend, they didn't post (at least I haven't found it yet) but it was good to know they were still around. so I voted yes. It only shows the last ten minutes anyway, and if your memory is like mine, you don't have a clue who you saw on earlier:) And as for people only answering people they know, I don't know that I've ever seen that happen here.

Crossville, TN

I like the concept of the IM being available, but I have mine set not to accept anything if they are not on my list...so, would have to do some thinking about it. Maybe we could just post on our journal which programs we have (I have ICQ, MSN & AOL AIM), and ask that interested parties email us through DG and ask for permission to be added to our list. My ICQ number is so low that I don't get the "trash" much anymore...come to think of it, NONE since I changed the settings to List Only... Jo

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I don't know what's up, but I can't find this new thing. I've looked all over cool stuff, but I must be missing something.
Joan

Mount Carmel, TN(Zone 6b)

JoanJ,

I am missing it too. Let me know if you find it!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

It's gone but not forgotten - Dave's working on some tweaks to make it more flexible for folks to use. Stay tuned!
