Here is a little Titmouse that had a bad day. He had a collision with a window. I retrieved him from the porch floor, brought him into the house and held him until he finally opened his eyes and began taking in air. When he began flapping his wings, I was so happy! I took him out back and released him and he flew to a feeder. When I came in to the house and looked out the window, there he was, looking at me.

Another shot of him when the wind gave him a "doo".

A Downy Woodpecker, I hope. Do not see any spots, but I am going by the size of the bill.

Last for now, is a different view of the American Kestrel I posted last week. My question is -- How on earth do they do this??

Thank you GG for a great start to a new thread. Your Y-s flicker looks remakably like the Northern flickers, are they one and the same? Aww to you TT. I'm so glad it recovered from the collision, cheers! Your downy is cute as can be. Hah, the Am. Kestrel may share the 'rubber man syndrome' errrrrr rubber-bird neck syndrome maybe. Just kidding.

I'm glad to see a few Goldfinch here and there;

Great start! Good question, GG.

Here's a White-crowned Sparrow being reflective.

GrannyGrunt - great start, beautiful Flicker

Lily_love - I've been seeing a good many GOFINs around here.

thebestmissy - that pic of the White-crowned Sparrow seeing its reflection is cool

Thanks folks.

Lily, that Goldfinch is soooo pretty. Re. you question about the Flicker--there is a Red-shafted Flicker; a Yellow-shafted Flicker; and a Northern Flicker. The coloration is a bit different on each, at least per the Peterson Field Guide.

thebestmissy, I love that White-crowned Sparrow and its reflection in the pool.

Sandusky, OH

Thanks for starting the new thread GrannyGrunt! Agree with Hack...beautiful Northern Flicker (yellow-shafted form) for those on the eastern side of the North America. Love the doo on the Titmouse!
Great shots on the last thread all!!
Lily, nice shot of your American Goldfinch! Only have a couple around here myself...they show up every now and then.
thebestmissy, Nice capture of the Golden-crowned Sparrow and the reflection!
Have a couple to share.
European Starling...used the 580 II flash with the beamer attached.

A female Red-bellied Woodpecker...the flash and snow are not mixing too well here plus...was not completely focused.

a House Sparrow...last spring those who were using the beamer had a cloth over it...maybe to soften the flash so it doesn't light those eyes up with that bluish glow.

lastly a Mourning Dove...much more practice with the new flash yet.

Burd, are you using the beamer?

Yupper! It throws the light better and saves on the battery life.

Lovely pics GG! Thanks for starting the new thread! Thanks also for helping the sweet Titmouse.

My hubby told me about a program called Irfanview, we downloaded it and I have been playing with it. The pictures that are a little fuzzy I can hit auto color and it will sharpen up the picture. But the ones that are really out of focus it does not do anything for. Thanks Hackster for fixing the squirrel, the bread he is eating I just used the last of that certain kind today. They love it! I will try to sharpen up my pictures with this program and maybe they will be less fuzzy. I envy you guys in the southern states with your colorful birds, but spring WILL come back to us and just watch out for the pictures then! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Hack, that Pine Warbler is gorgeous in the last thread.

Mrs Ed, love your wren and wp too!

Granny, thanks for starting the new thread. Your flicker is great. I'm so happy to hear your adorable little titmouse survived the ordeal. Love the painted eyes on the back of your kestrel's head. The pygmy owls also have similar markings too.

Lily, glad the goldfinches are still there. Most of mine have left.

Missy, cute reflection picture of your sparrow.

Burd, awesome shot of the starling! All your photos are just wonderful.

Red, congrats on the new visitor-great shot of the wren. Love the bbs too-they're so sweet.

Teddy, just enjoy your birds. You'll figure out everything soon.

Here's my poor Junco with the bad leg-the rain really was getting to him, but he's continuing to eat just fine.

O my gosh...Very nice start GG! Hope your flicker comes back for you & the TT is so adorable!

Great pics guys!

That titmouse is taunting me, he will fly down, get a seed, look right at me and fly away! They are really hard to get. Has anyone else had trouble shooting them, or am I the only one?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nice start GG...love the Flicker!! I have yet to have one come and partake of the goodies I have set out for them!!

Beautiful shots everyone...don't stop now you are really rollin'!!

A Bewick's Wren from a little while ago. They look very similar to the Carolina but are smaller and have a grey chest and their tail seems to be more active!!

Burd_Fotos - Wow, that 580 and beamer really did a number on the European Starling - fantastic detail.

reddirtretiree - I enjoyed the BB pix. Pretty little birds.

teddy_8905 - I've heard of Irfanview, but have no experience with it. AND you're welcome on the squirrel pic. AND, oh, yeah, titmice will test your resolve. They don't stay in one place long at all. Chickadees are the same way.

ducbucln - "Hack, that Pine Warbler is gorgeous in the last thread." Thanks, it's one of my favorites. AND I really liked the Ruby-crowned Kinglet on the branch.

dellrose - I'm glad you posted a pic of a male Purple Finch (with the GOFIN). I've been confusing male HOFIN's with them. AND the Myrtle Warbler pix are sharp.

Hack.

And this one was sitting right beside the door beside the tiki torch, I got him with MY camera, if they get close enough, I can get them with mine, I also found out that with this program I can zoom in and out, so sometimes I can bring them to me after I take the picture. It is a fun program to play with, the hawk is hanging around now, so there are no birds. The reason I have been taking so many of squirrels is at least they stay still, and I am practising for when I try the birds. I thought that was a good idea.

Hi Teddy, Yes the Titmouse are one of the hardest to get photos of because of being constantly in motion. I would think this would help their rate of survival too.

Duc, Love the Kinglet and Nuthatch!

Dellrose, Sweet pic of the Bewick's Wren and others!

Hi adel, Love those Quail and the Spotted Towhee!

Cute one of the squirrel Teddy!
