What and when Christmas Decor pt 2

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Ge1836, you are so clever with your bird houses.

onewish1, great show. I would hate to have to take it down and I hope Easter is late this year.

We just took our little tree down. We are leaving for Nantucket in the morning so it had to go. I used a lot of really bright feathers and large clusters of glass balls, so it was a real quick break down. The topper this year was a bird that I made go sort of Carmen Miranda like by adding lots of gaudy feathers that I tucked in around it to just brighten up the tree a bit. Tacky is the word that comes to mind. But that is OK as it was festive. Happy New Year all. Patti

I like putting the decorations up, but really hate taking them down!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am with you on that Victor... the snow on the wires is going to make things very difficult again this year

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I can't stand all of it - including the inside.

An overdue pic of the door.

That was some tree, Patti

I like the door Victor

Thomaston, CT

The tree was not tacky, but very creative....my tree will be down on Sunday as I have the family over for dinner tomorrow....pork & sauerkraut here also, but roast beef for those who like it better.....

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

love the door Victor!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Patti - I see nothing tacky about your tree! I love the color and the feathers and the topper....nice creativity and good sense of humor.... I think the holidays provide a "fun" exception to what would be tacky otherwise.

Victor - love the door! Very nice!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Patti, I just love your tree with the bird and feathers tree topper. I do think it's festive. Actually, Mardi Gras comes to mind.....

Nice door decoration, Victor!

Don't have the desire to take anything down yet. The tree went up last minute, so I hesitate to take it down just yet. Would like to enjoy it a little longer.

DH is taking tree down tomorrow. Too exhausted from having everyone here for New Years Day.

Very clever. Patti

Thanks. My sister did it, but didn't plan on it having any certain design.

Came out very nice!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, very nice.

Got my tree out and cleared the windows so I could let the kitties back up! They're free once again.

Thomaston, CT

And they love you for it, I'm sure. Too busy today to take down the tree....will get to it tomorrow.

Forgot to mention....... our local tacky lights house owner fell off his roof this year putting up his lights and was impaled on a fence post....he did NOT die....his neighbors finished putting all the decorations up for him.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

wow
I was thinking about climbing up on the roof to do lights but thought better of it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow! You mean, WHILE he was impaled?!! ^_^ That WOULD be tacky.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

ROTFL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And an automatic winner!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oops I lied...he was trimming his tree and fell "The post of the fence went straight through his buttocks, coming out on the other side of his leg."

EWWWWWW

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

wow

Here's the link to the pics of his house

Ouch. But my friend's injury was much worse. He was lucky he lived. He was an iron worker in the city. He fell and was impaled on re-bar. Went through his scrotum and out his ribcage. As if that is not bad enough, his co-workers panicked and pulled him off! Missed his liver by 1/4 inch. He is messed up (8 herniated disks), but not only lived, but had a kid afterward. Double-digit million-dollar settlement.

I'll do without the millions, thank you.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

EWWWW, why in the world did they pull him off???!!!!! Everyone knows (well I thought everyone knew) to leave them in or on if your impaled or stabbed etc.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I thought so too. Guess that's why they're iron workers. ^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh man!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

such happy thoughts.... thanks guys

Way to much info guys! LOL

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

tree and outside lights came down yesterday.
I agree, way too much info on those falls. Ouch in both cases.

Thomaston, CT

Impaled is such an ugly word!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

all down and packed away

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Mine are down, but not yet packed.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I thought about taking stuff down.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

We had an easy break down this year in Vt, but I had to figure out where to put a new espresso machine that our DS gave to DH this year as well as a bunch of other kitchen related gifts when we got back to Nantucket. That meant rearranging the kitchen counters and some of the drawers. It ended up to being a much bigger project than I had thought. Next year I may say if a gift can't be consumed than I don't need it. Too much stuff. Patti
