Where is Rita?????

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Any one heard from Rita? Hope she is okay! I miss her House chicken news!

Ferndale, WA

Her and Annie both have just disappeared. There are several that have gone, and yes I miss them. Wren, grownut, Annie, Rita, Catsy, Batflower and others as well...

Well, I have been reading the new posts as they appear. Just nothing really good new going on here. I did have some problems as old pipes in my old house and the kitchen ceiling was leaking yuck. I now have a lovely big hole in the ceiling were the pumblers had to cut out a section of ceiling and fix pipes and connections. It is STILL not right as there is still sometimes a drip.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Hay I am still here just slow to keep up with things, to many dental and other pain problems. But I do try to read the threads on here at least once a week.

Grownut is on the other site, her sign on on here get screwed up and no one would fix it for her..

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Yaaay! Glad to know most are busy and just 'lurking", waiting for an interesting thread so they can jump in!
Sorry about your Plumbing Probs Rita!
Awwww, Wrenn hope you feel better soon!

Stay warm everybody!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I think all our threads are interesting... :(

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Well some more so that others. I do not think chicken lice would be to interesting to me, just makes me itch.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Its not that the Threads are not all interesting, they are all interesting. But there is just nothing for me to add on some of them.

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Hmmmm you are so right!!! I just didnt word that quite right! We are some of the most interesting Threads on the Forums!!!!!

Richmond, TX

LOL

Thought I do miss the hatching launches

Richmond, TX

The pep rallies were quite exciting. We need to elect a head cheer leader, perhaps.

Yes, there is a lull right now, and even Hay threatened to leave us because of the DG business dealings. Sometimes I wonder if I should leave too, maybe you get tired of my ramblings and rants. People are polite here and if they think it, at least they don't say it, :D not to my face anyway.

Richmond, TX

Goodness no, don't leave. We need interesting people here!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I am just to cold to type much. Florida is should not be this cold

Ferndale, WA

Wren you are such a blessed main stay: Sorry about your dental problems. Those are just horrible. I'm so glad to hear from you.

LFJ the beauty of this DG Forum is that we love the rants, and raves...Thats what makes this forum so doggone great. I'm so glad we don't all think or see alike. What I love here is that everyone shows respect for one another and we are tolerant of differences of opinions...I was so, so, tickled when Eufaula came back on here, she is such and wonderful lady, but people must feel free to come and go, and eventually they will find their way home to DG. Yes I have thought of leaving at times, I'm sure most have but I cannot leave my family anymore than I can leave my Seramas...It is what it is...Hay

Bridgewater, ME

I would never leave this site,I have learned so much here and I do read all of it,some is more interesting to me then others but it depends on what is going on with your chickens at the time and whats going on in your life to,I do go to another site and post there but just last week my feelings got really hurt because of what some said about a picture I had posted and a question,I had asked. I stewed about it for a few days and showed dh and and he said just stay off there or don`t ask or post on there anymore, but I did say something, nicely of coarse and got some carring answers.I will never feel at home on that site as I do here,I know it has been said many times but this site is like family we notice when someone has not been on for awhile and we send up prayers for those that are having a diffacult time.It seems that when some go away they always come back in time.I wish you all a Mery Christmas and a happy healthy new year!!

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Thank You Hay for the kind words! Yes I went to another site for a while and honestly tried to blend in , but it just didnt happen. My "People" were still here and the few of us who did migrate came back home to roost! I was doubly coaxed to come home when a dear friend gifted me with another subscription to DG.
Green, so Sorry you had to suffer through the unkindness of another's thoughtless words. Sometimes when typing , I too have committed terrible Faux Pas and have to go back and apologize or just let everyone know I am sometimes quite the "Doofus"! But I just do not believe that anyone should be rude! Stay here with us and the healing spirit of true companions and Friends will warm us all!
I do have an apology to make though!!! With my over zealous attempt to get right to the point of a given conversation and share my "goings on", I will get a little too wordy and forget to acknowledge one of another of the DG'ers here, Please accept my heartfelt apologies!....... Im Old!~!! LOL!!!

(Zone 6b)

Yes, I get too wordy at times I know. It's out of boredom. The nerves to my muscles are damaged by the lupus, so often I want to be up doing things and can only sit here. So there you have it. Please don't take it as complaining, thought it might be a touch of that, but these are really just the facts. I do a little vacuuming, and come back to the computer, a few dishes and back to the computer. Go outside and watch the chickens, and back here.

So, I'll be grateful for my friends on here, a roof over my head, food and heat.

If you have health and can work, thank God for that today. Take care of your bodies. It's no fun when they don't work right.

Bridgewater, ME

LFJ I do the same thing as you,I work for awhile then come see what is being talked about or pictures to look at(love to look at pictures) My dh does not understand he just says your going in on the computer and talk to your chicken friends aren`t you? And I say yup they are a lot more interesting then this tv.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Don't anyone appologize for being "wordy". Thats what this forum is here for, just write as much as one wants. I like it here very much myself as it is very friendly and always lots of helpful advice.

I know Grow misses you all pop into the other site and say Hi once in awhile while I try and lure her back.. I am really trying you know she is just stubborn and mule headed!! Shhhh dont tell her I said that... LOLOL

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

There is no other site like this one. I do know lots of people from many of the forums here got upset when Daves Garden was sold and left. But no other sites have the feel and friendliness of this one. Its like a big extended family here at Daves and not just on this Poultry Forum. I was on the Daylily and Iris Forum long before the Poultry Forum (as well as others) and just would never think of leaving forever. I do have other forums I go too as well but I always revisit Daves and think I always will.

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Actually Rita there is another site that has a forum the Billy and Haystack can communicate on and Billy has pictures posted so Haystack can see him grow up. Grow started a hootnanay forum on there cause like it was stated, her user id was lost and no one would help her get it back. Associated to Grownut user name was a wealth of Knowledge and information that is somehow lost to her and if she was to create a new one, still it would not tie back for her. Its sad but true... I so miss Cousin Grownut on here... and a few of the old timers that have left. Billy and I made some many wonderful friends on here a few years ago so anywhere I can still communicate with them is worth it...

(Zone 6b)

Well, honestly this place has not been the same since TamaraFaye was kicked out of here. Whatever your opinion of her was, and I have my own, she kept this place active. Yes, I've said the forbidden word, TF.

Haystack later rooted out someone else, who will remained unnamed, but many of you knew, who I suspect was the root cause of the above mentioned incident.

I have not spoken with Tamara in over a year, and am not a close friend of hers, but you might be happy to know they discovered the root cause of the sickness in her children, and they were all doing so much better the last I heard. I pray they are all doing well.

None of us are perfect now, or ever will be.

Green: I had to laugh so hard about your comment " Computer VS Television. I bought my wife a large screen a couple years ago and then bought myself this computer. She is a movie buff, and I can't stand TV. We go thru the same thing, she wants me to sit and watch tv with her but I can't stand it. As soon as I stand up she says oh you'd rather be on the computer with your friends...My comment is always the same...YUP!!! it beats tv any day. We still do a lot of things together though so we have a wonderful relationship, I just don't like tv... It's always a little more stressful during the late fall and winter when you can't get out so much due to the weather. I'm still very involved with our Senior Center, but that also is winding down as of Jan 1, I step down as president and back away from a lot of the responsibilities.

Just a word of caution, if I may: We have had a couple real trouble makers on here in the past, they are gone and I don't think it is wise to go back and revisit those problems. We have a wonderful group of persons here that I call family and I think this should be our focus, all are welcome and should be treated warmly but I will always confront those who seek to destroy the good people here...Hay

Los Gatos, CA

Yeah, I love this site too! And all of you. I lurk and learn more then I post, but I always look forward to hearing from you all. All of you have so much to offer. I feel like I know you guys!

I think we can all be thankful for the friendships we have here. It's kind of unusual and really special.

Happy Holidays!

Ferndale, WA

Same to you Images, I have really enjoyed you being on here and trust me we feel like your a full blown part of us...would love to hear from you more...Also a Very Merry Christmas to all, stay healthy and warm...Christ is still Lord, I can just smell the Hot Chocolate...

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Very well said Haystack! There are things in the past that need to stay in the past. Some things were sad, some made me mad.. either way, it's history now. I wish the best to everyone, regardless.

I too have been here quite a while... I found DG when I bought a plant I didn't know how to care for.. I never spent that much and wanted to make sure I was doin right. That's when I found the Brug forum... OMG I was so hooked.. I never saw anything so beautiful in my whole life.. and the fragrance was just pure bliss. Then I went crazy over Coleus.. and THEN??? A fellow DGr offered me a puppy.. I told her I couldn't cause I had chickens.. she said WHAT?? I ran to the feed store and bought some chicks... been here ever since. LOL I've had chickens several other times in my life, but nothing like now.. I've learned so much here and will never "leave" Like never permanent..

(Zone 6b)

There was a precious man that lived in my town. He died a few years ago, but he told me something I still remember. It's a great quote. He was talking about some very dishonest things that go on in politics in our area. He was a county commissioner.

He said,
"I'll fight'em
I'll fight'em
untill the day I die,
and when I'm dead and buried,
I'll still kick dirt in their eye".

Bless his heart, he was a great Christian man, and very much missed.

Ferndale, WA

It's so funny ZZs, Remember when I could not post a pic, remember when you kept encouraging me to learn and how many times you tried to explain to my fruitless mind. Finally I got it. I still remember how with all the patience in the world you kept coaxing me to learn...You'll always be a real highlight in my heart...Hay

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I remember that! I sooo wanted to just come and show you! I knew you'd get it and love it! I was so thrilled when you got it.. it's not your fruitless mind.. for some people, computers are very intimidating and foreign.. I am forever grateful that DG brought you in my life. I am blessed. I'm so proud to be your friend. ;)

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Well put Mr Haystack.

You two make me laugh so hard.. I remember your light hearted bantering about them chickens and who was going to hatch what... LOLOL
ZZ I did not know that, that is good to know... I think I somewhat remember that Haystack... Heck I still remember my first post, how panicked I was and how everyone eased my fears...

(Zone 6b)

Me, in my ignorance, ordering those silkies from Ideal, when GrannyGoode, (where did she go?) and others were trying to tell me they were not good quality. Did I listen? No, of course not. It has worked out though, I have eggs which was my main concern, FOOD! Little did I know I would pay more for chicken feed than I paid at the store for eggs. :) You all know this story don't you? You've been there too. :D

Free eggs ! HA!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow.. 5 years? I've been here 5 years! Wow.. LOL I've never paid attention! What a trip.. :)

Oh yeah, remember when we were having a serama hatch race or something? LOL Now he's teasing the heck outta me cause he knows I've got hatching withdrawl..

Bridgewater, ME

I go back once in awhile to when I first started posting and it brings back such fond memories, never once have I read of anyone being rude or hurtfull.I think its been three years for me.

Ferndale, WA

Green: How could anyone ever be rude to you, you ladies are the finest. I was raised with six sisters, (Wonderful Ladies) all but two are gone. But I have gained many wonderful sisters here and am so proud of all. Now if I come of protective at least you'll understand why...Your Treasured here...

Bridgewater, ME

What a kind comment,I`m honored that you think of me and the others as sisters.

Ferndale, WA

Miss Jester your such a darling, but could we drop the Mr. & Sir. It just comes of strange from a family member. Most of my friends and family just call me Howie, that is unless their mad at me then they call me Howwierd...it's ok, I'm not offended I have learned that love covers a multitude of offensives...Howie-Hay-or whoever I am...oh my I think Miss Jester is causing me to have an identity problem...RESCUE ME, Com'on baby and rescue me...Have a great day everyone...

Green, good morning to you, oh yes God in His wonderful love has provided me with the very best sisters a brother could want...
