The seasons don't end, they just change with the winds. And neither does the flow of beautiful bird photos end here. They just change numbers. And it's time to change. Thanks to all who share their pics here.

A couple of drake mallards.
Daily Bird Pics - Vol. 361
Nice shots Red! Love seeing the Goldfinch.
Thanks for starting the new thread!
Thank you Red for the new thread; the drake mallards are nice. I hope your BBs are safely hidden in the brush somewhere. Yah! I'm envious of your Gold Finches. I haven't seen one here for quite some time now. All day long, and I just saw a lonely housefinch came to the feeder, then zoom -- it flew away too. So no pic. :((
Oh Duc, I so enjoy coming across you feeder log on the last thread. What sweet idea!
Thanks for a great start Red, the Starlings and Doves are abundant it may not be long, before I see one of those Cooper or Sharp-shinned Hawks in the yard. Thanks for the start.
We've had snow, rain, then more snow, but we're not that bad off, Ontario had waist high snow dump yesterday.
My pics are on the snowy side lately.
Nice pics nanny and burn!
Nice start, red. I noticed several Buntings at my feeder this morning, just refilled it for them. Too cold to be outside. Tied a record low again last night, 30 degrees.
I can beat that gardenpom, we were at about the teens so with the wind chill values it was below zero. Although I know, in Florida, 30 degrees is really cold. Come to think of it, here 30 is really cold too. I had to give the birds the mixed seed again, I was just feeding them Sunflower Seeds. But I can't keep giving the Sunflower Seeds to the birds and the squirrels too, can't afford that. So if I was rich I would give the birds and the squirrels what they want, a woodpecker bar, suet cakes, and a seed bell. But I just can't. I am going to get a suet cake soon, the woodpeckers and the female flicker and the nuthatch love it. My house finch is back, but don't have the camera handy.
It's expected to be cold in Ohio, teddy. Last year we had several days of 27-28 degrees. Killed back most everything. Sure don't remember it getting this cold in Fall (not officially winter yet).
Great shots guys!
Nanny thats an excellent one showing the size difference.
Nice start red. Love the drakes. How did you "call in" those Pileateds?
Sharp pic of the Hairy Wp, burn. 3200, I'll say you had the ISO kicking. But your pic turned out well.
teddy, that is a mean ole House Sparrow, male.
I touched the pic up to see it better.

Good Lord nanny, I never realized just how big a Pileated Woodpecker was. Great comparison shot
Hack
The cock cardinal showed up today. Haven't seen him for some time. He cant balence on the basket feeder & gave up & landed on the ground. Hope that the squirrels left some seeds for him.
Nearly 100 Canada geese at the park today. I hope that most of them are going south & not hanging around here.
Good shots, Hack. I called in the Pileateds with my iPhone. I have iBird Pro on it and it has calls for all the birds in the guide. I pulled up in a deserted campground and heard a Pileated in the distance, so I tethered my phone to the vehicle's stereo system, rolled down the windows, opened the sun roof and cranked up a Pileated call. A pair came in immediately and flew all around the car looking for another bird. It seemed to be a territorial thing as they were agitated. I frequently use my phone to get birds to expose themselves. It beats pishing. It's also helpful to identify birds you can hear but can't see.
Guess I should post a pic of something. How about a shot of the lake where I called in the Pileateds. See if you can spot the cormorants.
Wow, Nan. I alway imagined the Pileated wp is big, but had no idea it's THAT big! Nice contrast b/w the two woodpeckers. Red, love your pic. of the Pileated as well. Hack, thanks for helping with pics. Teddy, I like you, I love those Northern Flickers. Red, what a cool way to call your birds. I think I spotted the Cormorants on treetops. And a gentleman on an RV below. What beautiful scenery.
No recent pic. to share but here is a Great Blue Heron back in Sept.

Good gravy, Nanny, that is indeed one big bird. Are the males the same size as the females?
I have to say that my Blue Jays are not aggressive or mean at all. They are loud though, so when they plop down they scare everyone off. However, they are also THE best at sounding the alarm call for the hawks.
Marna, thanks for mention that about the Blue Jays. I saw a Crow sounding out distress call to alarm other birds of a hawk of some sort this afternoon. Among the smaller birds I noticed a Kildeer that quickly ran under a park vehicle for cover. It's amazing of our birds world! Hope the snow has tappered off for you there? No snow here, but it's cold.....brrrrrrrrr.
It looks like you could fit perhaps 12 Downys inside a Pileated (ha). I have not seen the pair around here for a while, but I hear them occasionally.

Kim, it's very cold here and no snow, but expecting some this weekend with windy conditions. boo.
I had four jays at one time yesterday and I missed the picture. PLUS, today I had a jay give off a loud alarm of four calls. In swooped a cooper's hawk!
Edit: No NEW snow, that is. We still have the old stuff. Not like in Buffalo and other great lakes cities.

Oooooh cold and snow, and wind--not a very inviting combo! Please stay warm. I don't know if we have cooper hawks down here, but redtailed, and red shouldered hawks I do see more often around here.
Thanks for fixing up those pics Hackster, they were just a little fuzzy for some reason, the sparrow moved just as I shot, and my hubby did a good job on the Jay. The contrast of the two woodpeckers is amazing! One time last summer we had a downy woodpecker and a hummingbird at the nectar feeder at the same time drinking together, now, if you don't think that was an odd couple! Took a couple of the lake up here, just starting to completely freeze over, pretty soon the snowmobiles will be racing across it, I wonder, how many snowmobiles will go into the lake this winter? Any guesses?
