This Chipping Sparrow is so little, that if I didn't see it move, I'd miss it.

duc, I love the pix with the red berries lending to the composition, that HOFIN is beautiful.

Got a good picture of the nuthatch, trying to get better.

Not to sure what this little guy was thinking, but I thought he was cute, so I got him.

Hack no problem, I was done anyway. Great shots of your birds, especially that cardinal.

Teddy, your little nuthatch is adorable.

Lakeview, OH

It was as if he was just sitting there and waiting for me to take his picture, usually they grab a seed and go, but he was sticking around, which was lucky for me. The little bird in the next picture had a look on his face as if he was thinking with his little head turned to the side.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Teddy, your second one there is a House Sparrow...nice one with the nuthatch!

Hack & duc...both a great series of shots! I love that orange HF!

For now I have the dinner bell feeder where I hang the humzinger during the summer, right out the back window.

Male Pileated Woodpecker came by this evening!!

Nanny... I always enjoy seeing your Pileated! Wish they would come to our feeders!

South Hamilton, MA

We put up a feeder with a tail board long enough for a piliated but the one in the area hasn't come around. We have had some red-bellied wp.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Nanny, cute finches. What are they eating? I'm drooling over that picture of the pileated-sure is a beauty.

Iris, red-bellied are cute too-you're lucky to see them.

Too rainy for photos, but here's a Brewer's Blackbird for a few days ago.

Great shots from everyone here!!

That is Safflower seed the finches are eating.

We had a Northern Flicker also show up yesterday.

Great thread thus far, thank Hack. I haven't much opportunity to take/share pics. lately, but have been throuroughly enjoyed everyone posting. Keep it up everyone.

Winter has arrived here in my neck of the wood, not many birds stopped by to visit my backyard feeder....

I know you couldn't see the Great Blue Heron from previous pic. So here I zoomed in a little to show one that is standing guard and 'fishing'.

red bellied woodpecker likes our suet feeder. We will probably see more of it when it snows. We use the red pepper suet blockds to discourage squirrels. There are other things for them it eat.

Marlton, NJ

So nice to see a Great Blue Heron on your property!

I still have the hot pepper suet in the log feeder hanging from the tree. Saw 2 male Downy Woodpeckers today. Weather has been awfully dark, cold and windy.

Lakeview, OH

I have not had the opportunity to take pictures lately, been too cold and blustery for our little feathered friends. I know this site is for birds and animals, but I have a word of warning, there is a very nasty virus going around that can attack your computer. It is calles Anti Virus Action and it will attack anything in your computer, it perpetuates more the more you try to get rid of it, if you see it pop up, turn off your computer instantly, you might have to format the computer to get rid of it. It is very hard to get rid of. So just a word of warning. I have been organizing my pictures today, I did not know I had so many pictures, of Sammy Squirrel, the hummingbird and the others. So I will post some later if you don't mind. This is the Downy woodpecker eating at the hummingbird feeder last summer, I didn't know they ate nectar, but I guess they do. He was hungry.

nanny_56 - I'm so envious of your Pileated Woodpeckers. AND a Northern Flicker and Downy, to boot. Count your blessings.

ducbucln - nice Junco.shot, I'm still waiting for them to show up.

Lily_love - you're right, I'd never have seen the Great Blue Heron had you not cropped it. That FZ28 did good for you.

teddy_8905 - I didn't know they are nectar either. Wow.

Get me a rare, but not good, hawk pic. Resin ID'd it as an immature Cooper's.

It has been almost a whole year since I last photoed a Pine Warbler, I guess they're back.

I have plenty of Tufted Titmice, and they sure make you work fast.

I don't think I've ever seen a Titmouse at a suet feeder. But here's one for the record.

I'm still being visited regularly by White-throated Sparrows.

OH Lily Love, yes, that REALLY looks like winter has set in (not).

Both the tufted titmouse & white brested nut hatch help themselves to our suet. Meant to tell them it is for woodpeckers, but they need food for warmth too.

Sandusky, OH

Great shots everyone!! No sun for quite a while here just snow squall's and avg. temp of 30f. Did manage to get a couple shots from a few days ago. I now have a pair of crows visiting daily.
