CLOSED: Strange Cricket type bug

Decatur, AL

My son and I recently moved from NC to AL and our apartment has these strange cricket type bugs in it. I am wondering what they are and what their place in the ecology is. My son is terrified of bugs and I dont want to kill (or have him Kill) something that i might be able to lure out of the house. They dont make any noise, hop around like crazy and they look like a cross between a cricket and a june bug almost and im trying to find out what they are. I live in Decatur AL if that helps narrow it down due to location. I included a picture but its not very good.

These most likely are cave/camel crickets; relatives of grasshoppers and crickets in the family Rhaphidophoridae. Sometimes also called 'sprickets' because of a fancied resemblance of a cross between spiders and crickets, they basically are nuisance pests that do little if any real harm. Thank you, thats it exactly. now i have to figure out what may have lured them in and get it cleaned up.

They are common in my area in basements and sheds. I have no idea what lured them into my basement but the way I reduce them is to use sticky traps under the washer, low shelves, etc. Well, I'm sure pesticide would work too. They are simply lured by warmth and moisture and dark; they could certainly find all the decaying veg they could ever want outside in my yard.
