Yeah I got confused too...we congratulated everyone on the photo contest announcement thread...
Love those reflection shots....
I'd like it if they had the vote count on all the pics so I could see if I had any votes at all.
Congratulations photo contest winners!!
It would be nice if they had that on-record for awhile for those who want to know, maybe on request..
Wowzer! So many incredibly beautiful shots on this thread! Ric - that's such a neat one you posted at the last minute! And WC - my goodness.......that fall print is incredible! I also love all of the duck shots! Ever thought of how easily you could make some big money for your photography? Wowzer!
Celeste - I love that little fox baby....so cute! What a face!
Congrats to all of you who won!! I missed the whole contest while we were traveling, but it sure looks like it was probably the best contest ever! So proud of all of our NE winners!
Holy Cow WC that shot is incredible!!
Holy Cow is right....are those her real colors???? Nice to see a girlie duck outshine the boy ;)
Yep, they're real colors!
No camera alterations or post processing on the colors, just re-size and sharpen 1% with Elements.
- The females, (though not as pronounced as the males), do have an attractive color scheme,
these shots were taken in their natural habitat, where they 'blend-in', so to speak..
you had fantastic light with those... and a good eye!!!
Ahhh! Thanks Allison, glad you peeked in, - wanted to tell you how much I liked your hummingbird shot! ☺
- Yes, the lighting is all important as I'm sure you know.. A sunny day would have washed out or blown out all the colors and provided unworkable contrast, overcast is my preference, - especially since you're always trying to meter a 'gray midtone' in this situation. Tough because I was using a Sigma 500 with a minimum f-stop of 6.3 but it has optical stabilization so I was able to go a little bit slower with the shutter speed and they don't move fast, so I was just able to get them 'on the edge'.
- Right time right place, I was lucky enough to have the equipt with me to be able to take advantage of the situation. If I could count all the times I was unprepared they would outnumber the prepared ones 5 to 1.
(lol!)
(ps. Thanks, I always try to keep my eye as clean as my lenses. Hee hee!!)
thank you... all those shots.. I bet you could sell prints of that's for sure.. just perfect
Congrats every one
Long Island ducks have a fantastic reputation and WC's photos do them justice.
So beautiful, WC! The water is almost as pretty as the ducks!! Just incredible photography!
lol! Thanks again Louise, with these shots the water is what 'makes' the shot. There's little difference between two good pics of a Mallard duck, so you look for something more... something to enhance the photo & give added interest. You don't know what that 'something is' until you see it and when you do it all comes together.
- that's what makes my task of choosing one of my 'best photos' so hard...
☺
WC - that one even got a "Wow" out of Hank just now when I showed it to him. I can only repeat, "Wowzer"!!!!!
lol! Tell Hank thanks, I'll take that as a compliment! ☺
It was indeed a compliment. He is artistic and he knows his ducks. He is impressed!
