Nice feeders nanny! Best of luck with them.

Here is the double suet tail prop feeder I have. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=9089+10468+20781+19403&pcatid=19403 Would love to get a Pileated.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Those are nice new feeders Nanny...I'm gonna get one of those tail prop suet feeders. I have the peanut wreath and the birds love it!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I thought about ordering the one with the longer tailprop but since mine are on the tree there is room for them to cling. And this is made of recycled material can't have wood ones here! lol

Lionhrt, they may eventually find your house. They cover a very large area and are sooo amazing! I just hope mine comes back since the feeder was down for several days!

Pell, sending positive pileated thoughts your way!!

New cheap feeder (13.99). Yes, Margaret, it's crooked. I would have checked for that at the store, but it was in a box. boo.

Songbird Station. Holds 4 pounds. They have an 8 pound version too.

Great thread Mrs_Ed,love your Big feeder. My feeders are kind of ugly, worn and used ,along with home made squirrel baffles. LOL But I m working on the ugly part.we just added a heated birdbath and a feeder on the west side, lots of birds working out well. And its amazing who is using the heated BB.

so many really cool feeders out there now, need to ask for TSC or wildbirds GC for my
b-day,that way the dh wont grummble too much when i drag home a new feeder !! LOL

I have not seen my pileated`s either, going to make a tail prop suet feeder for them.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Its coming starting tonite 3-5 inches only here.

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

I havent listened to the weather since this am I think we are 3-5 also.

Might get some pretty photos of the feeders in the fresh snow.

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

I have a new camera bundle pkg on the way, so perhaps I will soon be adding a few pic of my own. I stopped in at the local Wild Bird store and purchases the owners private mix. It is a fruit and nut mixture and the birds LOVE it.

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Not in season, but here is my home made hummingbird feeder with a perch. I got tired of watching one hummer chase everyone else away from the main feeder, so I made several of these to hang in different areas.

More recently, it snowed first time this year and the birds showed up all of a sudden in my back yard where they played in the bird bath all summer. I used the bird bath as a temporary feeding tray until the snow melts and they can find food again. These are spoiled Southern birds, they don't know what snow is.

And later that afternoon, the blackbirds found the food....

Brown-headed Cowbirds - note the short, stout-based bills

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Cowbirds? I took the picture through a glass window, in the sun they were almost an iridescent blue, very pretty. These are not Brewer's Blackbird (Euphagus cyanocephalus)? I will try to get a better picture. Thank you!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Yah, those are cowbirds alright. Sheesh. i've never seen so many.

Love the fountain too!

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

So many? HA! You should see the rest of the swarm, there are hundreds!!! I will try to get a better picture so you can appreciate it. When I hear about the mass deaths of birds recently, it's not difficult to understand how that can happen. The entire flock acts like a single unit. If they eat something bad, everyone will suffer together. :( They can be a nuisance in urban areas, but when they have lots of room, they're very interesting to watch. And they share space with other birds very nicely. They came to the feeder only after everyone else in the entire neighborhood had already eaten.

Mila, Nice hummingbird feeder and beautiful bird bath!

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Thank you very much, and the birds like it too! :)

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Mila1, I have found that cowbirds and starlings often are found together.
I sure have a bunch of both today. Taking the feeder down for a little while haha

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Not exactly a feeder, but here is a cardinal with one of my sunflower heads I saved from last summer's flowers.

Nice job Julie! May I say that is the MOST natural feeder there is.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I love it! AND, after it is empty, you can smear peanut butter and/or suet on it, and they'll keep enjoying it.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Fruit basket with apples, grapes and tangerine halves with suet in the bottom part of it. The Woodpecker will have to poke hole in the jute fabric to get to it. Trying to attract the Bohemian Waxwings with the fruits.

Those cowbirds are the ones that toss others' eggs and lay theirs then leave the cardinal or robins, etc to raise their young ......right? Parasitic birds I guess you could say.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

yup, that's them. And yet, they still find their way back to the flock.

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

that is amazing isnt it.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I couldn't resist buying this cute little feeder. The Goldfinches love it...of course they love any feeder! LOL!

That is really cute Rose!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

ah, an apple!! I just posted on the daily photos.

your house would be a good spot for one of these feeders: http://www.songbirdgarden.com/store/ProdImages/SE324C.jpg

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Pelle and Mrs. Ed. I just bought it for it's cuteness knowing that the Goldfinches would use it (heck they'll use any feeder)! Mrs. Ed...I noticed one of those multifeeders and thought about getting one. I know the Finches would love it and sure would be fun to get a pic of it being used!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Of course they love homemade feeders like this saucer on a corner post with a few branches thrown in for good measure!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Cute apple feeder , and love your homemade one too.. I does bring in a lot of Goldfinches!

PERTH, Australia

Lovely, Rose.

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Great picture, Mrs. Ed. Very tempting.

Rose your improvised feeder is just great. I have had a bear invading this season so I had to take in all of my (damaged) feeders. But...........put seed out in some unused ashtrays out on my deck that friends who used to smoke would go out for, and the chickadees love it. I do too, as it is right outside of my window. Just like goldfinches, chicadees will go for just about anything.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I loved deck railings for that reason, brought in lots of cute birds up close.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

They are so sweet! We only get a few strays every year. I would love to feed a group that cute.

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

oh cant imagine battleing bears, squirrels and racoons are annoying enough ,entertaining tho.

cute apple feeder,I saw some really neat feeders the other day, would love to have one of those big cool ones.

My finches are picky as to which thistle feeder they like, ive tried a bag,dh didnt like that ??? I have a metal mesh tube with roof and tray, and they like the home made water bottle thistle feeder best ,they will wait in line. Too cute

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

My goldfinches do not seem to be picky about where they eat. I will say that their arrival at the feeder is not very dependable. Some days I'll have none, then I'll have a half dozen.
