What a great thread you started! And your plants look great! Your plant sitter did pretty okay! So glad.

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

Tish, yes, all was well. did loose a couple. Not her fault.

Waiting for all those huge E to bloom. Can't put them into the sun still too hot. They do love their spots outside in the warmth - have never groown anything that loves the heat and humidity as much as they do.

The pix of the pink one you sent is yet to come. I have huddled over her and geeez she just doesn't want all the pampering. So, now again I messed with her. Still alive ...Send some pix of yours and I'll reply with some more pictures. Did find another in the show at selbys, Canadian Cleopatra....will show pix... saving the best for last. Helene

I would like to have "unpredictable Helen" if any one grows it....

Lou,
I just loved your pictures!! I envy you getting our Chrysothemis to bloom.Mine just sulk...sometimes they grow and sometimes they lose all the bottom leaves.

Bonnie,
Those violets are outstanding.Love them!!

Helene,
Your plants look so happy.I wish I could grow them outside, but that doesn't work well in zone 5!!

Lynn ^_^

Oh I know - I used to be zone 5, Live in Brewster NY for 40 years. 20 of those years i vacationed here in Fl. Now live here. Those plants LOVE heat. I have never seen anything like it. The are in shade however. Now it is quite dry here so I mist them every PM. Like soon. Here are a couple more. Acquired this last weekend at Selby's....

They sold some with many, many stolons for only $12.00. Next time I see this kind of offer, should I buy it and then just distribute the plantlets? I Personally- for me -like the smaller ones
Canadian Cleo.

Tish shared this pink one. I pamper it and it balkes - struggling along.i think I keep it to humid covered all the time, This seems to be the only way she want to grow.
We are not sure of the name...

OK I won't bore you guys any more. This was fun.Helene

R. Bed bug is spectacular! What size is her pot? I love the variegation on Shadow magic. All the pics are beautiful.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Jamiew,
They are in 3 ounce solo cups.I also have some little pots about 2 inches across and shallow I got from Cape Cod.These are not standards!!
No matter what I do my AVs don't seem to take to wicking, but I keep trying LOL.I put some leaves down and if they take I should have babies to share.

Awesome pics everyone!!!! I am afraid to tell you all that I have buds on a few of my new streps I got...so I won't LOL!!!! Maybe I can post pics shortly :)

Lynn;
If you want to wick, your mix has to have at least 65 to 70% pearlite.I wick all my plants & have no problem.
Bonnie

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

Lyn awesome plants. Here too you wake up very happy everymorning just wanting to see what's coming next. Lovely. This is a chirita Helene

Wow,that's a beauty!!

Bonnie,
It seems I fail at wicking no matter what. What kind of string or cord do you use?

Lynn

Is that chirita your own hybrid Helene?

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh no. Very new to these. Picked this one up at selby garden gessie show. check out the mother on the Selby garden visit thread here on DG. makes rosette stolons. The main rosette blooms.. Interesting. Will post the name.. HD

Am having terrible experiences with my AV right now, so I am especially proud of my Essies, especially the pink varieties I am growing. Here is Cleopatra (Canadian Clone). Can anybody tell me the difference in this and the regular Cleo?

They are both stunning!!! I was told that the Clone was easier to grow. She is supposedly not as finicky with humidity and environment like the regular Cleo.

Connie

Saluda, SC(Zone 8a)

lbrabec, your Cleo is beautiful, looks like the clone is not as dark to me. Say, I believe we have each decided to use the same potter; roast chicken came in mine, but I think I have the dark one your plant is growing in too. LOL

My daughter's son's school salad comes packaged in the greatest (heavy plastic bowls) that are perfect for episcia.

My problem with episcia is keeping them as small as I want. They tend to be huge, even when I restrict roots, any secrets for bonsiaing them?

Saluda, SC(Zone 8a)

The other star of my shelf right now is Pink Smoke. I am not especially fond of blooms on episcia, but they are interesting when they appear.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Pink Smoke is great!! I almost killed mine, but I have 2 pieces rooting.Yes,I love those roasters LOL. Sorry,I don't know how to keep them small either.I just sent 2 clumps of both Cleo's and 2 of Debary's Embers (the dark pink one) to others. That's how I keep mine small.

Sista Connie, thanks ^_^!! I have heard the Canadian one is easier too,but I'm not taking any chances. It lives covered with 2 air holes.

Here is the most recent AV to bloom for me. It's Louisiana Lullaby, hybridized by Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses. There's no Photoshopping of the picture. It is simply lit with natural light from behind, making the white edges seem to glow a bit.

That's a beauty Mark!!

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

every one has such beauties. This is so much fun.
I buy organic spinach in a little large than shoe box plactic containers.
DH is wondering why spinach is so expensive?
Well they make wonderful greenhouses for all my starters. Have nothing more to show for now.

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

Well, I went to check a name on my "Es" turned around and nearly s... in my pants. Alice's Aussie is blooming!!! Now that's "a good morning to you".
I love pink and orange. Had shoes at one time with those colors. Hot pink and Orange.
She's is beautiful! A keeper Yes?
Helene

My "Es" did bloom in the month while I was away so did not see them.....
