Things that make you go "hmmmm" or Say what???!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Can't understand why folks pay $300,000 for a hundred dollar lot!

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

I watched a developer pile debris into/onto a steeply (STEEPLY --AS IN A BIG SLIPPERY SLOPE ENDING UP AS A WATERY HOLE) sloped piece of land......until the "land" was brought up even with the roadway...and then proceed to build a two story $250 plus thousand dollar house on top of it. Surely a little time, and settling, and decay of the "fill"(garbage) was going to wreck havoc with that house.

It doesn't make me say "hmmmmmmm, What!" as much as it makes me think criminal!

Now, I will tell you a true story...that DID make me think "Say What?"
Last Sunday while sitting at the table and reading the papers, I was reading about
all the terrible and worrisome things happening in Japan. I said to my hubby, "oh no, it says here that the spinach may be contaminated with radiation.". He looked at me (dead serious) and said (I kid you not) "canned or frozen?"

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

(...I'd say that's criminal.)

Seems everything we don't want ends up in the ocean, the huge oil disaster in the Gulf now this, (albeit the wind is the factor here). It's like out of sight out of mind, "No worries it's all gone now." What's the ½ life of that stuff anyway?? Doesn't water evaporate from the oceans and come back down again in the form of rain? We ingest seafood, feed our livestock derivatives from the sea... it all comes back one way or another. Seems we're so advanced and intelligent that we've perfected the art of fooling ourselves into a false sense of security on a mass scale..
Anywayzzz, - that's just my 2¢ worth, not that it matters. (lol!) ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I never liked fish and look where they ended up!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOL!

Thomaston, CT

Yes, the radiation is worrisome.....will it affect the produce that's shipped here from Calif?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Too weak so far.

Thomaston, CT

Thank God for that....I just bought Calif collards today without thinking!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'll have to buy a Geiger counter so I can check the lettuce..

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe it will be cheaper.

East Bridgewater, MA

If you want to have a serious dicussion about California's produce safety, you might want to start with the migrant workers not having restroom facilities...

....ergo the "squat" right next to your lettuce, etc.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's why I only get mine from North Korea.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Gotta luv those natural flavor enhancers..

- Found one for $69 with all the accessories, but they're sold out, they're expecting a new shipment soon..

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Don't you sometimes wish after reading a post on a thread you can just type "IDIOT!!!"?????

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- Yes, and I have.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Sorry, I'm still chuckling over " canned or frozen"

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Lady says she just over a stomach flu/virus(whatever it was) and says the first thing she ate was sushi for lunch...

Back at the end of WWII in 1945, Allied soldiers liberating the concentration camps in Germany gladly shared their foodstuffs with the prisoners, not realizing that a sudden resumption of eating would cause death, which it did in many cases.

Proper procedure was to start out with tiny amounts of broth, then gently escalate to soup over the course of days, before moving on to small amounts of solids.

I am going to check out that website - I have a bunch of patients that may really appreciate it.

What is behind the name Sparkpeople?

Thomaston, CT

I would never eat sushi on my best day! But I had a friend, when pregnant, craved clam juice....yuck!

East Bridgewater, MA

Back in the 1980's, I tried "clamato" V-8, and I both loved it--hated it at the same time, which is a very rare reponse to food.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

I tried sushi before it became such an "in" thing. Still hate it!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow BA, never knew that

Spark means that want to put a spark in people to get healthy

I liked sushi when I tried it, but won't go out of my way to get it. Much rather have cooked fish.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

love clamato for bloodies

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I've never had a bloody mary, of course, not crazy about tomato juice

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

I like the psuedo sushi....the cooked crab and avacodo...california roll style. Actually, it is the sticky rice that I love that is wrapped around it and the fresh thin thin slice of ginger.....wow!

Thomaston, CT

Yep...leave out the seafood, & I'd love it....

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

What is that black sort of skin in the sushi roll....... is it fish??
Please don't tell me it is eel or .......snake!

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Seaweed?

East Bridgewater, MA

Good news, that "black skin" is a vegetable-based seaweed product that has been compressed so it can be rolled....................so don't worry!

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Sigh of relief... Can you hear it?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

the ginger and wasabi are the best part of sushi

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And the parasites!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Love the wasabi on raw tuna in rice, yum!!
