Beautiful birds everyone. Little, glad you have returned. Ditto what Nanny said.
I've always loved seeing photos of the White-throated Sparrow that some here have posted and a couple days ago I had the chance to actually photograph one at my home. It's a first sighting for our county this year! They are rarely seen here and I'm hoping to see more of them.
Never been away..just did not have much to add, shamefully. I do watch this thread everyday. We're heading into summer, so I can start looking for a few birding trips again.
That's great Duc! I love the White-throated Sparrows!
Great pics duc! I love the one of the Spotted Towhee!
I've been gone too long to comment on all the great photos, but just a few:
Duc, great shot of the cedar waxwings. I thought I saw some the other day, but I ended up taking a bunch of photos of house sparrows behaving like waxwings!
Burn, beauty of the evening grosbeak.
Little_things - incredible pictures of stunning birds. Just loved them.
GP, glad your painted buntings are back.
Nanny, saw my first Tennessee Warbler but can't seem to get a good photo of it.
For me, this photo proves my theory that somehow my brain messes with the first pic when I'm excited. I relaxed, took my time, waited for camera to focus and then took one photo before it flew away and yet it's still a little off. My first shots are always off no matter what.
Red-tailed Hawk
Elphaba, I love the grackles, glad you got a photo. That Inca Dove looks so different from ours-hope you'll get a picture of the red in the wings. Your hawk is wonderful, don't be so hard on yourself and your woodpecker friend is sweet!
Nice pics Elphaba and red!
The Grackles have come back here too with about 25 in the yard yesterday.
Nice ones nanny! I'm mainly seeing the males here.
The first Cave Swallow of the season has been seen in Cape May today.
Red, the mallards look peaceful.
Pelle, just tell those grackles they're welcome here!
Nanny, beautiful photos of your female!
Our local Audubon Society had a wonderful presentation on the "Ghost Bird" last night. It was about the Ivory-billed Woodpecker thought to be extinct, but supposedly spotted in Arkansas in 2004. The film was a documentary and excellent. If any of you have a chance to see it, I hope you will.
I'm way behind on my photos, but here's a Bewick's Wren.
Nanny, congrats on another new one for the year. You sure got a good photo of that fast moving little bird.
Burn, cute junco and wp!
Duc, Love the arguing Mockingbirds!
Sweet Junco burn!
Anhinga.
I missed the cool bird shots yesterday. Took my first pictures of a Belted Kingfisher but it was a cloudy day and I had the camera set for bright and sunny from the previous day. Then I was taking a picture of a far away coot and there was a grebe right in front of me that I missed. I did, however, take a picture of one of the coolest things that I've ever seen. I'll post it on the wildlife forum. I thought I was taking my first pictures of a baby alligator on a log. What I didn't realize until I got home was that the baby alligator was not floating on a log it was on its mother's face!
