Daily Bird Pics Vol. 351

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

In case you missed all the fantastic shots on the last thread http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1134968/

My gosh, summer flew by and autumn seems to be moving way to fast too. Although we need rain here desperately I have really been enjoying the beautiful warm days to go exploring new places that are close by. I think I have found some good places for next year's spring migration!

I saw this Cardinal out the window with the the leaves on the ground and it just said 'Autumn' to me!

Have noticed the Goldfinch are molting into their fall colors now....I just can't believe how many we have this year!

Enjoying Robins still here....before long they will disappear from sight.

With fall and the first nips of frost the Blue Jays have returned . I love hearing all their racket when the arrive in the yard!

Nice shots nanny! Thanks for starting the new thread!

Been seeing a lot of different birds in the yard so far today. Here is one of the male Red-bellied Woodpecker's.

Male House Finch looking down to get a turn at the feeder. I also saw some White-throated Sparrow, Common Grackle, Mourning Doves and lots of Blue Jays.

nice start nanny! Both you and Pelle have good selections. I haven't seen any white throated sparrows this fall. Haven't heard any either.

I HAVE had some robins passing through the past couple of weeks. It was a party at the stream!

Great introduction to the new thread, great shots, Nanny. thank you.
Pelle so nice to see your birds, love the Red-bellied WP, wish they were around here.
Great group of Robins, Mrs-Ed. I'm sure they enjoyed partying at your pond.

The Mourning Doves are increasing. This one. had a wing open.

Thanks Nanny for the wonderful new start! Glad you're seeing so many birds.

Pelle, glad you found the first of the juncos. Love your fluffy robin-still waiting for my first to arrive.

Mrs Ed, love that bath party of yours!

My Brewer's Blackbirds are regular visitors these days.

This is one of my favorites of a female Brewer's Blackbird.

Every time this little lady heard my camera click, she moved to a different pose. I wish all my birds would do this.

I've been taking hundreds of photos every day because the integrade Northern Flicker arrived within 10 days of last year. Not only that, there are now at least three of them in different stages of color.

These two show the red-shafted (which is our regular visitor) and the integrade (yellow-shafted and both the red crescent on the back of the head and the red mustache).

Here's the color difference.

This different flicker seems to have the correct red-shafted feathers, but also the start of a red-crescent on the back of the head which the yellow-shafted has.

Nice variety pelle! I have seen juncos up in our trees but none have landed in the yard ...yet! lol

Looks like a Robin Fest at Mrs. Eds!

Pretty dove burn. I try to get the wings open but doesn't happen very often!

Those flickers are stunning Duc....I would be taking lots of pics too!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Nice start Nanny. We desperately need rain here too, but otherwise the weather has been just gorgeous, so I know exactly what you mean!
Duc, those flicker shots are unbeliebably beautiful but I also really loved that second brewer blackbird.
Pelle that longshot of the junco is excellent. All those pics are great.
Burn, the mourning doves have been catching my attention lately too. They really are a beautiful bird.
Mrs. Ed, WOW, that stream is quite the attraction.

Mockingbird

The color variations on these House Finches amazes me. Some are yellow, some red and yellow. One is a purply red all over and others are a garish red. Even the females are different. One female is such a pale gray that I think she's a new bird every time I see her. One is so dark, I think it's a blackbird when it's in the shade.

Another House Finch -- not colorful, but I like the expression.

This isn't a very good pic, but it's the best one that I got of a Black-throated Green Warbler.

Last but not least -- he was a giant -- a Red-tailed Hawk.

Nice group of tight Robins Mrs Ed!

Burn, Pretty Dove!

Duc, Love your Flickers!

Good variety you have Elphaba!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Elphaba, I know what you mean about the House Finch. I looked out the window one day and saw what I would have sworn was a Purple Finch until I picked up the camera and focused in on him. Boy, was I bummed too! lol

Something was getting this Myrtle Warbler's attention!

One of many, many Field Sparrows I am seeing this year here at home. Whether I am out walking or here in the yard. I have never seen soooo many!

Nice ones nanny! Love seeing the Field Sparrow.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Elphaba, wonderful photo of your mockingbird. That's interesting about the different colors on your finches. Take lots of photos of them and your local audubon society might be interested in seeing them. Cute warbler, looks like it's enjoying the bath. That dove and hawk are beautiful too.

Nanny, love the pose on your warbler. Great picture of your wp. I love all the sparrows because they blend right in with the colors on the ground.

Here's a pretty Northern Flicker

Our neighbors return home today and won't be happy when they see all my birds have about cleaned off the persimmon trees.

This pair of flickers were enjoying the berries. Notice the lower bird is an integrade with the red mustache and the red crescent on the back of the head.
