Here's another photo showing the back. Our Lesser Goldfinches have true green backs so I agree with Resin that this is an integrade.

Hello birders friends, great pictures and an exciting season to watch migrating birds. Thanks Margaret for the new thread and so many different, interesting birds to enjoy. There are so many I can't possibly keep up with, but try to enjoy one posting at a time.
As the weather cools down, night in the mid. 40F. I woke up this morning with a pleasant surprise. The American Coots have arrived for the winter. They'll be here well into the spring. Here come the first half dozen to our local residential area-lake.
Really Great pictures everyone. such interesting birds. I have Calif. Quail, goldfinches and the everlasting E. sparrows. Donna
Nanny, glad to hear you're seeing more juncos. I still just have one here. Love the killdeer. You cardinal sure looks pretty in that feeder.
Lily, good to hear you're seeing some coots-any younger ones with them? I tried to get some pictures of the little ones here, but they were too sheltered by the parents-now I have to wait until next year.
Rutholive, I was wondering if you're seeing the American and Lesser Goldfinches in your area. I have both here so I always assume you do too.
I love the Brewer's Blackbirds, here's one that was in the sun.

Such a handsome Crow duc!
Dave, That's a gorgeous scene!
Ah Dave, I love Kentucky and this mill has to be one of the most photographed sites in that state. It's gorgeous!
Actually, duc, the mill is in Virginia. But I'm sure Kentucky would love to claim it,
There is something about it that most people relate to. Despite the threat of rain there were about a dozen people out there taking pictures of it when I was there. All sorts of cameras. They say it is the most photographed scene on the entire Skyline Drive. I talked to people from Nebraska, New England and British Columbia and there were many other states represented, judging by the license plates on the cars in the parking lot.
Thanks for the correction Dave!
Wow, that IS a gorgeous mill, Dave! Looks too perfect to be real!
Cute gnatcatcher Duc!
And nice job everyone! I've been out of town, so tough to comment on the rest, but all are appreciated.
Here's a ring billed gull looking all adorable. check out the shells/snails at it's feet. I also wonder if it's right foot is okay or if he just had it bent back.
I'm completely intimidated by the amazing photos on this thread. WOW!
Margaret, I always love your striking photos and you have the best birds. I'm amazed by that blue bill.
Dave, that pic with the house finch and the bluebird is just unbelievable. Can't even fathom how you achieved such clarity on both birds in the rain no less.
Duc, that flicker in flight is fabulous. The bill on that thrasher is pretty amazing too. Amazed that you got the gnatcatcher. They're fast.
GP, love the variety. Hope your indigo has friend arriving soon.
Burd, Burn and Nanny, send one of those cute white-throated sparrows down here.
Tigerlily, that duck is incredible! Beautiful shot of an extraordinary bird.
Mrs. Ed, congrats on the new bird -- red jam indeed!
This shot is not so great but I'm sharing anyway b/c it's a really hard bird for me to get. It's so small that my camera just won't focus on it, and here it had just finished bathing and was shaking itself which only added to the difficulty.
A Northern Parula
Nice pics Elphaba! Love the Red-tailed Hawk and the Warblers!
Good shots burn! The Starlings are starting to make appearances in my yard now.
Nice ones Mrs Ed! I especially like the Ring-billed Gull.
I'm completely intimidated by the amazing photos on this thread. WOW!
Elphaba, you have no cause to be intimidated by anyone's photos on this or any other thread. Your shots are wonderful. The Red-tailed Hawk shot is amazing! And I love the House finch drinking from the leaf.
WOW,Iam not sure where to start.Just amazing photos .Margaret the turtledove is beautiful.Dave I need the directions to that most photographed spot you did it justice.Glad I was looking aroung this morning. Everyone beautiful photos
Mrs Ed, great photos. I hope that first gull's foot is okay.
Burn, love that wp photo! I'm still waiting for my robins to arrive. Your photos are great of the robin and sparrow. Talk about an army-wow.
Elphaba, that Parula is just so pretty. You're lucky to see so many colorful warblers. I enjoyed seeing all your photos. Your last finch photo looks like it has some orange variant.
Margaret, the shelducks are beautiful and the turtledove is absolutely breathtaking.
Got this closeup of a Brewer's Blackbird yesterday.
