GREAT photos and costumes, Celeste!!!! You're a natural pollinator! LOL
We had a fun afternoon here. The neighborhood really gets into Halloween. We joined in the dog parade, using the ruffled skirts their sister's "Mom" made for them last year. They had to wear them as clown ruffles since they've really outgrown them. The neighbor diagonally across from us had a cool party, complete with a horse she brought in and dressed as a unicorn. Lots of fun, and we had so many trick or treaters we ran out of candy and had to shut off the light and go in around 8ish. The girls were surprisingly very calm and they had lots of fun with all the kids and other dogs.
Halloween What are your plans?
I know....pretty lame costumes, but it was a last minute caving in to pressure....what can I say! I'm still not big on dressed up dogs. LOL
Cute, Louise!
Won't they choke on those bands, Memory??
Just got back a bit ago frm our friends, their neighbor is a mortician, so he does up this HUGE thing. This year he had 2 caskets with live people and zombies roaming the yard with shovels leading the kids up to the coffins...his nephew on the porch playing a keyboard with the organ sound playing badly...then he'd switch over to the accordian and roam the yard...too funny, you should have heard these kids screaming their heads off when the guys popped out of the coffins..
Wow - that could be a bit too intense.
it's like a free haunted house.
Jen can we get a good deal on a coffin????.... it's ok if it was used... LOL
awesome costumes Celeste... love the buzz buzz buzz!!!
Louise the doggie parade looked like fun too!!!!
Ewwww, Allison!!
ROTFL... Randy said they make air freshener
I'll ask.
thanks!!!
Do you mind if it was.... eh hm..."previously occupied"?
nah
Currently??
Wow....looks like everyone had a great Halloween! The kids & dogs & horse are all adorable! I had 3 teens other than my 3 GKs, & Grant wouldn't wear a costume....oh, well.
Thanks for the complinents everyone!!
Louise the dogs are adorable, looks like everyone had a great time!
If the coffin is occupied, charge them rent. LOL
would rather not have a currently occupied one... might attract too many critters
:)
And robbers.
Ah, but the critters would leave your bird feeders alone! LOL
And no need to buy ingredients for maggot soup!
Hee hee he
Seems I missed out on this thread. I did see it like the day before Halloween, but when I saw how many replies there were, well, frankly I was quite intimidated. So now I'll try and catch up, then I'll post a few Halloween pics of my own. Most of you have seen my carved pumpkins, but I'll post them here again.
Karen
they are worth seeing twice!!!
here are some of the animated things we have... not sure why I didn't get them all ... too tired maybe

Thanks, Allison. I have finally caught up with all of this thread. Whew! There was a lot!
Debi_k, that sounds like fun what you guys do at your place for Halloween. Wish we got more kids here. We got 3 groups, and that's it, so I didn't really get to show off my pumpkins that took a long time to carve. Maybe next year I'll invite more friends with kids to come over.
Celeste, love the pics of the giant pumpkins. The kids are cute sitting on that big monster pumpkin. Your pumpkin carving party sounds wonderful. Everyone looks like they had a wonderful time, and the pumpkins came out fabuloso! That's a super idea. Maybe I'll do something like that next year. Love the dragon one that Brian carved. I had dreams of carving a dragon on a pumpkin, but never got around to it. Maybe next year. Cute pumpkin top hat you made for your DGD. Great costumes on everyone. I especially liked Hayden's.
Memory, next year my sister and I want to grow a bunch of pumpkins. That will be fun, I think.
Allison, you mentioned something about coco coir pickups. I was wondering what that was about. I'm with you about being happy about people stopping by to check out the decorations we put up. I really don't care if others don't decorate. I only put up a few things myself, mainly some mums and pumpkins, and my sis puts up some lights. Not everyone celebrates Halloween. For some people it's a religious reason they don't, just as the JW's don't celebrate any holidays. That's all fine with me. To each his own. BTW, great job on your decorating this year, as always it looks outstanding. Oh, it's never too late to carve a pumpkin, unless it's past Halloween. I did mine on Halloween day. Only problem was that we got our first group of kids stopping by early, before I got a chance to light the first one I did. I was almost done with the second one. I knew I should have done them the day before, but I just didn't feel like it.
Sherrie, that e-card you posted a link to was fantastic. I had gotten that from 2 different people in an email and forwarded it on as well.
Jen, the pumpkins your family painted came out wonderful. That party of your friends with the zombies and live people in coffins sounds like it was a big hit.
JoAnne, your display looked great until the poor pumpkins faded away. That's why I didn't carve mine early. That and no one to see them, anyhow, except just us. That is so cool about the leaf with BALANCE written on it.
Victor, loved the shots of the crepe myrtle in the light of the pumpkins.
Speaking of dogs eating pumpkins, I kept giving Patches the scraps from my pumpkin carving efforts. She was totally enjoying them, but then started leaving a mess, as she was not finishing it all. I had to stop.
Louise, looks like it was a lot of fun up your way. The girls really looked cute.

Ichabod's Fate
cool pumpkins!
Very nice, Karen!
Cool.
very cool!!!!.... the coco coir .... we bought a lot of it from a farmer that went out of business .. ended up with over 550 12 x 12 blocks for $100.00....and that is a conservative guess on how many ... could have been a lot more if he didn't leave them out in the rain
Thanks, everyone.
Allison, I'm guessing that's a good price for all that. I hear that coir is really good for conditioning the soil.
Karen
I have been using it for seed starting, cuttings, and potting soil... and it's a great price... each block is usually $10 - $17.00 normally.. and the 10 price usually does not include shipping.. each block will equal a peat bale once expanded... the best I have seen was Bocca Bob on DG... but I am not sure if he is selling it anymore.. so I am very very happy with my purchase.. now all I need to buy is perlite and I am good to go
nnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooo cook the baby!!!
;)
How adorable!!!!!!
Karen
