Self Expanding Banner ads

Effingham, SC(Zone 8a)

Dear DG Admin................... Maybe I didn't notice them before, but I am getting annoyed very quickly with the self-expanding ad banners. While I don't begrudge you the need to accept advertisement, it would be more appropriate if your banners would require a corner tab click or double click on the banner as is present on the majority of the banners. The ones that open by the pointer brushing over any part, then having to be closed manually, are getting old (especially the music ad). Please reconsider how you're having the trigger. It's really frustrating to open a thread and have this pop up because your pointer was in the wrong position...................................... STU

What and where are "self-expanding ad banners"?

You can go into your Preferences and turn off the ads.
I've done that and perhaps am just not seeing what you are seeing.

Banners are usually at the top of the page under the title of the page, like this page's
"Dave's Garden: Self Expanding Banner ads Advanced Search

Voting for the Dave's Garden County Fair is open! Please vote for your favorites now. "

They open when the pointer brushes them without needing to click it open. Will check with the settings page, thanks.

Thanks June. That worked.

Yes, subscribers can turn off the ads. If we've got one expanding without clicking, I need to know which one and maybe the tech team can work on the sensitivity.

FLStu - You're welcome. Some of the features are a bit hard
to find!

Melody, I encountered this yesterday at work - where I am not signed in. The ad was very annoying.

I just turned on ads - and I can't believe the banners - yes they are rollover ads. I don't know how to get you the image. right now it is Musicstore and in the corner it says Rollover - if the curser goes over it - it opens. If you are looking at a thread that is short you can't see it.

I don't see this on featured companies or top watchdog ads.

Can I get rid of the county fair add now?

Yes, Tech will get it taken down on Monday...I can't get to the programming for that.

Thanks elsie...I'll let tech know that this one is causing grief. Every now and then an ad goes 'rogue' on us and doesn't behave properly. We don't want to disrupt the sitre and I'll see about getting this one pulled.
