Incredible..!!

I'm amazed you're getting that many amps.

Are you using a chain drive?

Vernon, AL

was use'n belt drive an it robs alot of power in the form of drag, but im still gettin the things i need to put chain drive on it, so far so good .. just a little more chain an a couple masterlinks an ill be ready to put it togather.

LOL but with that much water flow, belts chains gears .. dont think none of it woulda mattered no way to stop the wheel or slow it down much. it was CRANKIN hehee

Wow! Is the wheel spinning toward or away from the dam? I can't tell in the pics. You need more batteries for sure.

You guys have the same coffee colored water as we do. But ours seems to be a bit thicker. More like liquid butterscotch. It has been raining here for 2 days. We are under a flood watch. Turned to snow just after dark. Hope it does not cause problems for DH in the morning for his trip to the hospital.

Vernon, AL

Cajun,
its spinning towards the dam, hahaa yeah my lil creek gets muddy from the field run off when it rains really hard like it did then.

for tho's who use f/b just posted a new vid of the waterwheel there .. check it out

I have thought so much about your waterwheel with all this rain. I'll check out the new video on FB.

Vernon, AL

yeah it'll get all its new brace'n an such now.. hope to have it all finished in 2 weeks .. thats my goal ne how .. we'll see how that goes.

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Did you get any more batteries? Will car batteries work or do you need special ones?

Vernon, AL

car batterys will work, but you need deep cyocle marine batteries .. but golf cart batteries are best, more amps and longer life also.

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

I thought I had heard that somewhere. How do golf cart batteries compare in price to the others?

Richmond, TX

$$$$$

POTTSBORO, TX(Zone 7b)

They may be cheaper in the short term but trying to use car batteries for storage of solar, wind or water produced energy is a waste of money in the long term. They simply will not work for this application.

http://www.windsun.com/Batteries/Battery_FAQ.htm#Starting,%20Marine,%20and%20Deep-Cycle%20Batteries

Vernon, AL

got that right VORTREKER, even so called deep cycle marine batterys from wally world is a toss up, i got 5 years outta mine, so i went with golf cart batterys this time, hope'n to see lots longer life from em, i did sort out my "good" deep cycle marines an made a second battery bank with them only 4 out of 12 would hold 12.6 volts for 24 hours after charging, some were down to 10 volts an some in the 11's ... they all got traded in as core's for the golf cart batterys. gonna use that 2nd battery bank for luxury creature comfort things .. like out side lights and pathway lights hooked to motion sensor's ...

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

On the really expensive (and reliable) side of the scale - Tow-motor (forklift) batteries. Takes a lot of difficult work to hurt them, but they cost as much (or more) than a good used car!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

I had no idea!

Vernon, AL

Dyson,
your totaly correct about the fork lift batterys .. they are monsters an never leave you flat other than your bank acct. hahaa more bang for the buck an you get what you pay for totaly stands true here. and dependin on where you tap em, you can get 12, 24, 36 and 48 volts from em .. an the amp hours is unreal ...

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

So, would you need fewer of them?

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

You would only need one ! Unless you were trying to power more than one home, But we are talking big bucks up front.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Out of curiosity, how many big bucks?

Vernon, AL

8 to 10,000.oo for a big one, you can buy a rebuilt one cheaper but im not sure how they would hold up

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Holey Moley!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Dear Lord! How big is it?

Vernon, AL

about 3ft x 5ft x 3ft tall ruffly or the one i looked at was. they have smaller ones for the walkie lifts ..

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

I hadn't any idea it was so big.

Vernon, AL

waiting, an hope'n this week my parts will come in twhere i can finish my generator an get it installed on the waterwheel. one project out of the way .. hahaa got a load of steel in also for the sawmill .. expecting another load monday afternoon. .. get the waterwheel finished, the windmill finished .. then the sawmill finished .. ill have new windmills to build .. LOL

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Your wheels are always turning! Pun intended. LOL

Vernon, AL

LOL yes they are Cajun,
dont think my mind ever rest, my body does but my mind runs 24/7 hahaaa

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

My mind does not turn off either and it keeps me from resting even when I sleep. I dream the craziest dreams all night every night. And sleeping meds don't help at all. In fact, the dreams get even crazier then. I could write a book. LOL

Vernon, AL

LOL yeah sleepin aids an med's only make the dreams worse, im just glad i rest at nite .. but lots of my idea's an such come from my dreams, when i do sleep. its all in the great picture ..
im still waitin on my load of steel an parts for the sawmill, the guy who was bringin it ended up in the ER with kidney stones .. he's out an ok now just behind in his delivery's an such. so maybe soon ..

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Hope it gets there quick. I'm sure you are chompin at the bits to get started on another project.

Vernon, AL

Vernon, AL

LOL now thats some wind Cajun hahaaaa

Vernon, AL

yeaaaaaaaaaa my generator parts came in today, maybe the rain will hold off an ill get to work on it tomorrow ...

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Hailed across the mountain yesterday but just sprinkled here until last night when we had a T storm. Hail in town today so bad it was knocking windows out of cars. Rain and T & L here. We are under a tornado watch but no wind here.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

I have a small generator but have never used it as i have propane heat.and i prefer oil and candle light anyway. I also have a small wood stove but my DD does'nt like me to use it but if worse comes to worse. I have lots of woods around to use. I cook outside on a campfire during warm weather anyway.
Vickie

Vernon, AL
